Vasantha mandapam is not actually the resting place of maharaja it's the resting place and samathi of the first chera king cheraman perumal after his period all his decendance had worshiped this place as a holy place we can find this details in travancore history written in the state manual of travancore by Nagam Aiya

During Veluthambi Dalawas period this palace is made as his working office after independence this palace went in the hands of devasam board and they used it as godown
Bro iam from kerala and realy intrested to visit this palace, this palace is opend to visitors or not, some one says its main gate is locked and cant enter this place, after travelling a long distance from kerala to see this palace and when this palace is locked it become a great disapointment, so please replay bro about the entry to this palace
