Madam I am from Thiruvaiyaru, born in 1935, stayed till 1958. Rama iyer of Palghat was running a hotel where this Asoka halwa and wheat halwa were very famous. People used to flock to his hotel in the evening for this sweet and a Rava dosai which was also famous in his hotel. He was the monarch in those days. He was staying near our house only and used to carry the sweets with his maid servant. Now other outfits are making it making it still popular in this area even today. Hello, my paternal house is next to the house where Raman chef lived. When we happened to visit our grandma in thiuvaiyaru Raman mama used to bring this Asoka to us as we came from Delhi! It was free and we liked, but mom felt no right. So she used to orderthe same sweet and pay for it ,but he didn’t know the cost of it!then he a bachelor from kerala.
Mrs Sundar recipes are excellent and cooking performance casual. One suggestion would like to see at the end of the show , the host and the cook share the dish & taste together
Your recipes are just too good. Why don't you publish cookery books separately for sweets, traditional recipes and north Indian dishes. Will sell like hot cakes.please consider.
After tasting u should not keep the balance on the same plate and also u take the halve sipping by the spoon. This is not a good culture. Pl either eat the whole thing or keep it separately.
Dr mami your received are very good. Can you tell about making tamarind pickle that last for a long time. In my young age a mother of my friends Telugu chettiar made for me. Abt six months it lasted. Thanks
