267.2 Brahminism ? The adjective " Brahminical" is used for describing/ glorifying features pertaining to race, genetic lineage. The adjective glorifies elite class and people flaunt surnames of Brahmins in India. The attitude of depending on the glory of predecessors is retrospective in nature and regressive in its effects. Brahminism is not particular to the Brahmin race. The pecking order in the society based on cast allows every individual to look down upon underling and be stagnated in vain self glory. Brahminism percolates down to every individual, even upto the most downtrodden. The noble idea of "BRAHMA" is attempted by few to be reserved solely for one's own progeny. Stories are created for deviously naturalizing the copyright benefits. Dictums prohibiting even the propagation of ideas like "the Sudra ear listening to Veda/ knowledge needs to be filled with molten lead" are scripted down and such scriptures are treated as sanatana/ eternal truth. "MA", my awareness when treated as eternal (sanatana) one is under the bondage to the past. Fortifying "MA", is termed as MAAYA. MATH is MA's interactive pattern with the neighbour. MATH is selfish, prejudiced and biased opinion about TA, the neighbour/environment. Patanjali suggests YAMA, the annulment of "MA"(chittha vrutthi nirodha) as the only means of yoga (connecting) of SA with TA for the creation of SATH, of the adage of progress.. " Satyamev Jayate". Jesus ridiculed the idea of racial superiority of Jews based on the ancestry of Abraham by the words " You think you have Abraham as your father; God can create offspring of Abraham from these stones". Jesus stressed upon the requirement of being born again to see the Kingdom of God. Abraham decided to set out on the BRAHMA way. Probably he is the first recorded in history as brahmachari. The sound "BRAHMA" hidden in the name suggests that Abraham is a name adopted on the decision to follow the BRAHMA way. Abraham is ann eponym! We'll see what is scripted about Abraham before venturing into the idea of Brahma. Abraham set out on a journey. Left his home, village, nation, rituals, and probably himself (MA). It's recorded that he "never settled" thereafter and lived in tabernacles. Charia means walking. Brahmacharia is walking the talk (practising the idea) of Brahma. What is the idea of "BRAHMA" coinage? "MA"/ മ is the common sound found in words representing the limits self's (SA's) possession (it's MA, my, mine, I'm, മമ, mera ). "Brah" means going beyond. BRAHMA means stepping out of the boundary MA. BRAHMA decision made Abraham to set on the charia/walk/journey with a firm decision to never settle down in life with (MA) the known truth. The adage "Aham Brahma asmi" is meaningful to me with this interpretation of self breaking the bondage of "MA" (selfishness) and stepping out to the neighbour as oneself, the civility (love). It's stepping beyond "MA" the bondage to the past, the scientific temper. Aham BRAHMA asmi is the freedom statement of "SA" to connect with "TA" to create SATH, the new truth relevant to this moment. "BRAHMA" is progressive when it is interpreted as the decision to treat "PARA" as "APARA" creating " EKAM SATH" being aware that " Satyamev Jayate" (for progress SATH is the only means). Loving the neighbour as oneself is the most difficult duty. And self jumps to the interpretation that SATH SA connecting with TA the almighty Creator Brahman. We just make easy interpretation and avoid loving TA, the neighbour. We further philosophise that self (AATMA) from eternity to eternity (sanatana) is equivalent to BRAHMAN. Connect is just between me and my creator, I need worry about my brother, neighbour. His status is because of his Karma, of which I need not bother about. Awareness that "I am BRAHMA" is just between me and my creator! Interpretation matters. I would like to opt "bearing my own cross to love the seen neighbour ( interpret TA as the least in the neighborhood and love as King God). "Aham BRAHMA asmi",I prefer to adhere to the interpretation as "stepping out of MA,my selfishness to love my neighbour". Brahma asmi as the freedom statement. Brahma asmi as the reality of this moment. Brahma asmi as the decision to get freed from the bondage MA. Sanatanatvam, I understand as creating the new truth relevant to this moment, acceptable to even my powerless neighbour. Satyamev Jayate, the adage "truth only is progressive" needs to be interpreted meeting the demand of reality. Even as the idea of BRAHMA is prospective and progressive in effect the widely perceived adjective brahminical is racist and therefore retrospective and regressive in effect. I would like to go to the roots and declare my freedom from the bondage MA, MAAYA as "aham BRAHMA asmi" based on the decision to be born again/ decision to do YAMA/ chittha vrutthi nirodha. Puna: abhi jananam/(decision to be born again).. for becoming chida Nanda roopah: Sivoham. I interpret TA, as the powerless neighbour. SATH as the interaction between SA, the self and TA, the environment. And BRAHMA as the voluntary, conscious decision to jump across MA, the fencing of selfishness in order to create SATH. "BRAHMA" decision as the threshold of the journey from MA. Words are sabotaged by matham, and fixes racial boundary MA with myths in the garb of philosophy which go across birth and death. MA, selfishness keeps the individual bonded to the past. Deracinated by the "BRAHMA" decision or "YAMA" decision AATMA commences the solo journey called Aatmeekatha. Abraham left MATHA and travelled alone, never settled thereafter. Jesus left MATHA and though He preached the Kingdom of Heaven and gathered disciples around, the journey was lonely. Everyone around Him abandoned and He trudged alone to Calvary, carrying the cross. "Walking the talk even when it is required to bear the Cross" is what makes Jesus attractive to me. . Jesus' "Kingdom of Heaven" is the unattractive lonely journey carrying one's own Cross of connecting SA, the self with TA, the environment ( in other words "interacting with the neighbour without selfishness" bearing the loss always). The lonely entry through the narrow gate of being born again is opting for the cross of connecting with TA, the environment. SATH and CHITH of AANANDA… Satchidaananda of being born again, being dwijaath…
