Malu , just has a confusion regarding germ theory mentioned in your talk. how come its possible to detail about the treatment practices for numerous types of “ Jwaras” without knowing the cause of these ailments, does it sound illogical??? Secondly , to my knowledge , very minute and comprehensive description about ‘ micro organisms’, those which can been seen with naked eyes and without naked eyes, is there in Atharvaveda, plzz correct me if am wrong
Really disappointed with the presentation. Nobody deny the effort and studies conducted by Susrutha and others at that time. They collected and analysed things with limited knowledge. Hats off to them. The problem lies when the same concepts and techniques are applied at this advanced technological era. Modern medicine is the only scientific way of medical analysis and treatment. Ayurvedic or any other ideas can be incorporated into it if proper studies are conducted and proved experimentally. Until then it remains as pseudo science.
The issue is more complicated, even vernacular knowledge in ayurveda was discarded by hindu revivalist movement in 19th century and traced back indigenous treatment to sanskrit roots. Charaka school were outdated by then

Mysticism has done more bad than good to Ayurveda. The first half of the video nicely address this. But isn't it wrong to quote a diagnosis protocol or the definition of doctor or a wet nurse which Ayurveda itself rejected to show the mistakes in it. Even if we look at the modern medicine we have so many practice which we used at one time but out rightly rejected later. I am not trying to create a false equivalence but the last part doesn't felt complete, you could have finished the talk connecting to some modern day practises. Can you do a talk on Ayurveda in the Modern age?

okay lets say ayurveda was not old as they claim to be so what was the mode of treatment before ayurveda, obviously there was diseases 5000 and 6000years back so what treatment method did they used?
Except cast, and vernas ayurveda is a branch of medicine,, in some diseases where modern medicines has no answer ayurveda and homeopathy has , proved it is the best, I am saying in my personal experience. but I always first consult modern medicines.
In evidence based medicine, "personal experience" is not counted. There are 5 levels of evidences the highest of which is called"Systematic review". The lowest is called "expert opinion", which you often hear from many doctors like "...in my experience......". Remember, this is the lowest of the evidences and what they do is exploiting the fallacy of "appeal to authority"
@@ejv1963 there is no question of exploitation, I tried modern medicines, I was admitted to kasturbha medical college, they didn't find anything but still I was suffering, so I decided to consult famous aurvedic doctor, after his treatment I am ok. See modern medicines different, ayurveda is different, common people want queer their disease, wheather it is modern or ayurveda

The fallacy is there in your own post that you tried medicines from medical college first and then consulted ayurveda doctor. That is not science. Don't you realise, people in western world don't have access to ayurveda and still have better cure rate and lifespan?
Many of the people in the comments seem to mix historoc significance and current relevance. We celebrate the magnanimity of Pyramids or Taj Mahal, or brilliance of Indus Urban planning or success of Mughal economy from a historic and not from its Modern application. And Ayurveda undoubtedly is up their with its historical position. I feel the discussion of modern relevance and challenges of Ayurveda need different skill sets and perspectives. Hope @bijumohan brings a quality work on the same.

A large number of patients depend ayurveda for the treatment of jauntice,rheumatism,sinusitis,acute bronchitis,dermatitis and kidney stone.If the treatment is not result oriented this wouldn't have happened.
The result of treatment can be proven.for example in jaundice the bilirubin value and blood results is indicator.most of the other diseases it is proven by symptomatic relief. There is no logic in comparing treatment with religious belief

Jaundice caused by Hepatitis A resolves on its own whether or not any medicine is taken. However, have you seen a jaundice secondary to cholangiocarcinoma resolving with ayurveda?
Jaundice... What is being treated by Ayurveda is Hepatitis A which resolves by itself in majority in one or two months without any specific treatment... If the cause of jaundice is cancers like bile duct cancer or pancreas cancer,can Ayurveda cure it?? That's where the fault lies... Cheating people.... See the recent case of Annamaria killed by her brother....she had jaundice...but Ayurveda could not cure it ...girl died... because jaundice was due to acute liver failure from rat poisoning...It's not about treating jaundice,it's to find out the cause of jaundice and treat it
