I retired recently after 35 years of service in a bank. I acknowledge that even today public do not have much idea about what's happening in a banks front office(dealing with customers) and back office( every other bank work on continuous basis. Not many know there are offices/ systems that run 24*7 and people work on shifts. Public have no idea on compliance pressure on bankers and punishment is case of even small failures which have increased manifold since past decade ( may be ever since Raghuram Rajan was made RBI chief) H uman treatment meted out to employees by superiors in banks these days is horrific with suicides a near normal thing. Unions literally have no power in ensuring work life balance in banks. ( Not that all union leaders are white horses) Banks too do nothing to bring systems to ease work pressure sighting cost factors and regulatory requirements. The quality of people entering banking service too have gone down due to comparatively low compensation package compared to many sectors . If possible do a podcast on this

Since you are an ex employee of bank, I have a question. When a person take a loan, emi is fixed according to the rate of interest prevelant at that time and period of loan is also fixed. I have seen that at the time of closing the bank says that the rate of interest is chargeable as per present rate. Could you please enlighten the facts.

The EMI is only for the convenience of the borrower and the Bank.Interest is calculated on daily product basis and added to the loan amount outstanding on the last day of each month.So even if there is no change in the rate of interest during the tenure of the loan if the due dates are not meticulously met total repayment amount may exceed the total of all EMI fixed.

Coming from an accounting background, my feeling is, December is generally very quiet time of the year in terms of working culture, mostly due to Xmas , New years, holidays, etc. The Financial year end coming on 31st Dec would make it a nightmare for accountants to close off the year.
