I had consulted Dr Gangadharan in lakeshore hospital few years back as I had anemia. he instructed me to do lots of tests but the results showed ok then he asked me to take some tablets for increase of blood. but later I was diagnosed with colon cancer and I had to go with the respective treatment. I think if the doctors had did some extensive test to find out my low hb I could have atleast treated my colon cancer in the first stage.

Yes, screening is very important. As i have ulcerative colitis i have to undergo colonoscopy once in 2 years with lifelong medications, blood tests and scanning every 6 months.
If you don't mind can I ask you How are you managing it? Do you have flare ups? Does medicines and diet alone help you? Does it affect your normal life in anyway?
In my case, simply eating fibrous food caused stomach cramps after 4 hours after food. My ferritin count and haemoglobin count was less. Colonoscopy found adenocarcinoma in hepatic flexure. PET scan showed no spread except for a few lymphnodes. Hemicolectomy was done and the affected colon part removed along with the impacted lymphnodes. Presently on Capox regimen chemo until Jan 2025.
