USSR will definitely face economic crises even if Gorbachev followed same policies. During that time USSR gave great importance to military. So their major share goes to the research and development of military then comes their policies to support poor people. The collective farming,public property etc started failing because of the corruption of politicians and the overpower they used towards the common. People started wanting a democratic life. Their was also a thought that the hard of wester people are using to feed asian countries. These are the things which led to the split of USSR. Gorbachev didn't get support from anyone that's why his policies failed and USSR collapsed.
