Jesus did read the from the book of Isaiah exactly as is written. Read Isaiah 61:2. He stopped the reading in the middle of the sentence at “to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord”. Because, that was his first comings to make atonement to sin and proclaim the free gift of salvation to who so ever believes in Him. The second comings- day of the vengeance - is yet to take place. Mr. Francis, that is the understanding of that scripture by all Christians.

What does it mean that Jesus fulfilled the Law? Jesus said, “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill,” (Matt. 5:17). So, first, we can see that Jesus did not come to get rid of the Law or make it invalid. Instead, he came to fulfill the true meaning and purpose of what the Law was about. Where the Law said do not lie, do not steal, do not commit adultery (Exodus 20:1-17), etc., Jesus obeyed the moral law perfectly. He never sinned (1 Peter 2:22).
