Capitalism is the system that gives economic freedom to individuals. Throughout the history you can see that, social and political well being of a country depends on the level of economic freedom it has. Economic freedom is a necessary but not sufficient condition for socio-political freedom. Your way of tweaking definitions will not evade the reality of the extent of damage socialist regimes have done to the well being of common people and the differences in standard of living of people in countries with higher degree of capitalism.

Here, the invisible hand of market through demand and supply determines what to produce, how to produce and how much to produce. Level of Competitiveness determines an individual's or firm's success and failure. All the exchanges happens voluntary, unlike socialist/communist regimes that use force to distribute wealth. This provides incentives for effective utilisation of resources. 2. No country has 100% economic freedom. This is an ideal scenario which is not possible in a realistic world. However, it is evident from the history that countries with grater economic freedom performed better in socio political and financial well being of its citizens. Also, 100% economic freedom doesn't mean anyone can do anything as per their wish. Just like individual freedom, which is not absolute and ends when someone's nose begins, economic freedom also ends when it is negatively affecfs fair competition. The job of government institutions and regulators are to ensure that there is fair competition and opportunities for all to compete in the market.

According to economist's last two hundred years every 18 years we have economic booms and depression. Each time different governments collective intervention necessary to bring back the economy. When you are criticising the economic system for the failures happened, you need to see whether the problems happened is because of the fundamental error in the idea that system propose. Let us take the recent 2008 crisis. Here the major reason why it happened is the failure to ensure fair market opportunities. Retail investors were deprived of the information about the risks of the instruments they were investing. Hence, they underestimated the risks and this resulted in a huge crisis due to the interconnectedness of the system. Its solution is not that government should controll the means of production or nationalise the businesses. The solution is to strengthen institutions and regulators to help the people to have fair opportunities in the market by ensuring proper checks and balances. Need to ensure that the regulation of market does not hinder the objective of developing market. This is what limited government intervention in the market means. There is no free lunch in the world. If the interference of government exceeds this, the market development is affected, it increases the chance of corruption, favouritism and chronyism. It suppress the competitiveness and innovation. The self interest, that drives people to take risk and start new venture will be affected. And hence the development and well being of people across the income classes deteriorates. The extent of damage it cause depends on the extent of interference. Well being of workers is what helps a firm to gain competitive advantage by having more innovations and better productivity. Thus it becomes their self interest also to provide better standard of living to them. Exploiting them will only hinder their advantages in the long run. This is why we see corporate firms giving importance to the well being of its employees. About poverty and excess production: May I know the solution you propose to address this issue? Don't you see the increase in people coming out of poverty? India itself able to lift 270m people out of poverty during 2005-15. Why it did not happened in the pre LPG era or socialist era? If the poorer people were to suffer more when economy opens up, this wouldn't have been the case. For government to do welfare to people, wealth needs to be generated. That is possible only when you give economic freedom to people. This increases the tax collection and the amount thatbcan be used for welfare measures of underprivileged. This is also in line with the self interest of market because the when more people are coming out of poverty, it increases the competition and innovations of market and thus more efficient. Using force to distribute wealth will not result in a sustainable well being of underprivileged people.
