They just need to cross the border and once inside the US they themselves call the police and surrender. As per US law as they r illegal they r taken to court. And will be released into US while they r waiting to get a court date. They cannot be put in prison due to laws. So they become legal to stay in US till that date. And with help of lawyers they slowly become a legal resident. There r lots of loopholes in US immigration system. This is what Trump trying to correct. They do want to get arrested, once arrested, per US law, they have all the right to stay in US using our welfare money till the court date and the court date is several months or years away.
