ഉഷ്ണതരംഗങ്ങളും കാലാവസ്ഥാമാറ്റങ്ങളും കാരണം തീരക്കടലിലും താപനില വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. കടലിലെ ചൂടില്‍ നിന്ന് ശമനം ലഭിക്കാനായി മീനുകളെല്ലാം ഉള്‍ക്കടലിലെ തണുപ്പുള്ള ഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പോയതോടെ മത്സ്യലഭ്യതയില്‍ ഗണ്യമായ കുറവാണുണ്ടായത്. സാധാരണ എപ്രില്‍, മെയ് മാസങ്ങളില്‍ അയല, മത്തി പോലുള്ള മത്സ്യങ്ങളാണ് കൂടുതലായും ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍ ഈ വര്‍ഷം മത്സ്യങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്നത് കുറവായതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ മത്സ്യബന്ധനത്തിന് പോകുന്ന ബോട്ടുകാര്‍ക്കും വഞ്ചിക്കാര്‍ക്കും ഇന്ധനച്ചിലവിനുള്ള തുക പോലും കിട്ടാത്ത അവസ്ഥയാണ്.
Coastal sea temperatures are also increasing due to heat waves and climate change. As all the fish migrated to the cooler parts of the bay to seek relief from the heat, there was a significant decrease in fish availability. Fish like mackerel and herring were typically caught in April and May. However, this year, due to the lack of fish, the fishermen are unable to even cover their fuel expenses.
