Ancient computer
The world’s oldest known computer lay submerged for more than 2,000 years off the treacherous coast of the Greek island of Antikythera. Beneath the weight of the water, the sand, and the wrecked ship that once carried it, the ancient astronomical computer’s bronze gears and mechanical parts slowly warped and rusted.
At the turn of the 20th century, a group of fishermen happened upon the wreck and its decaying treasures while diving after their dinners. One of the fishermen swam back to his crewmates clutching a bronze arm - the first find from the Antikythera wreckage to resurface.
Two years later in 1902, Spirydon Stais visited the museum that housed the treasures from the wreck. Stais, a Greek politician, had orchestrated the ship’s underwater excavation. In the midst of the coins, sculptures, and pottery, a green-rusted lump of metal caught his eye. It was a piece of the ancient computer, which became known as the Antikythera Mechanism.
Baltic Sea Anomaly
Back in July an ocean exploration team led by Swedish researchers found what some suggested may be a flying saucer on the sea floor. There were even skid marks behind the large object that suggested it may have moved across, or crashed on, the sea floor.
While experts speculated that the object was just a glitch in the team's sonar, new reports surfaced this week that the team uncovered a second, similar object nearby. But, as the report hopped from one website to the next, one thing was missing: an image of the second object.

The Bimini Road
ACCORDING TO GREEK LEGEND, THE city of Atlantis sunk into the ocean in one single day, wiping its existence off the earth 11,000 years ago. Since that time, scientists, treasure hunters and philosophers have searched endlessly to find even a trace of the lost world, said to be partially intact somewhere below the ocean waves.
Being one of the most well-known legends in the world, anything found during an ocean dive even resembling a manmade structure has caused serious waves of media attention. In 1968, a diver off the coast of North Bimini Island, Bahamas discovered a series of stones 18 feet below the surface. The stones appeared manmade, and were evenly spaced out in a road-like line stretching a half mile.
Another Ocean
Some scientists think Earth's oceans formed when icy comets hit the planet. But new research suggests a different origin for the oceans: they simply seeped out of the center of the Earth.
The finding, published in Science, suggests that a reservoir of water is hidden in the Earth's mantle, more than 400 miles below the surface. Try to refrain from imagining expanses of underground seas: all this water, three times the volume of water on the surface, is trapped inside rocks.
Called ringwoodite, the rock is bright blue and is only formed at high temperature and pressure in the Earth's mantle. The water would have been squeezed out of the rocks, "almost as if they're sweating," Steven Jacobsen of Northwestern University told The New Scientist.
This research adds to our understanding of the complexities of the water's transport throughout the sky, across the oceans, and into the ground. From the Editor's Summary of the study in Science:

Train graveyard
We have all heard of train graveyards, but have you heard of one that is located underwater? Check this out: off the coast of New Jersey there is a deep sea train graveyard. Under ninety feet of water lie two locomotives that were lost in the 1850s.
This graveyard was found by chance by Paul Hepler back in 1985. He was mapping the bottom of the ocean with a magnometer. The device, when over the graveyard, picked up on the two huge metal objects that turned out to be the trains.
