After helping a collapsed diplomat at Addis Ababa's airport, Kibret was inspired to leave his job at Black Lion Hospital and start working on a medical service that would fill the gaps in health care in Ethiopia. With no experience in business and no manual to guide him, each setback only pushed him harder, and he continued to write his proposal, after which he garnered support from the Ministry of Health. He sold his house to fund this venture and pioneered a resilient business model with dual objectives: bringing in profits while making a social impact.
Today, his organization runs 12 ambulances, serving over 150,000 people and training 45,000 others.
