Edud Zemete (meaning: a Pre-panned Campaign) an Eritrean book based on a true story. The author of this book Michael Berhane, who narrator in this story.
In part one:
The story starts in a small town Segenieti, on the highlands of Eritrea, where an educated young man and beautiful women fell in love. Within a year they were married, but after six months of their marriage the husband left his wife to join the Eritrean guerrilla war. She never heard from him for the next 8 years, but she never gave up on him; and she hoped one day he will come closed to her town Since her town was controlled by Ethiopian (enemy) soldiers so cannot enter the town. Her father was an armed Ethiopia militia.
After 8 years, her husband was given the permit by his commanders to visit his wife which takes two weeks including crossing risky area behind enemy territories. So, his started the journey form the northwestern mountains to highlands of Eritrea.
On the other hand, her father has different plan for her, make her to merry to an Ethiopian security officer.
Her father-in-law and his older brother try to convince her father to keep her marriage, but without success. Her father insisted no one can stop him from legally separating his daughter from her husband.
