I have a question before I go out and spend millions on a GPU. I play CS on low settings to boost FPS as high as possible, I don't care about the graphic, I only care about as high FPS as possible, and I will soon be going from playing CSGO to CS2, currently using 4790K GTX960 2GB, thinking about getting a 7800x3d upgrade. My question is, do I really need to upgrade to an expensive GPU to play CS2 on 1440p low settings? I just want to run as many FPS as possible, I can't state this enough, even stable +800 fps would make me a very happy competitive CS player.

I was going to go for a 13500 but my main purpose was for gaming and a last minute check with the 7600, when I saw that comparison benchmarks, I was blown away. And the cherry on the cake was the 7600 was $100 cheaper where I live than the 13500. If you don't need wifi on the motherboard, the MSI PRO B650M-P is a very cheap and robust choice. I always prefer GSkill rams so the 6Ghz 36 were the best choices.

My last build was a fx8150 10 years ago! After seeing price drops it really is a great time for anew build right kow. This time I started evaluating a Ryzen 9 but after comparing features and values for the components it just became obvious that I should start with a R5 7600x. I basically got all the exact same parts that you recommend in this video for the same reasons, (b650 aero for hd audio and 2x nvme, 7600x, ddr5 32g) but also because this will be my system for the next 10 years so the upgradability is prime for this setup. I also just ordered a 2t kc3000 nvme yesterday after looking at prices. This is my first time installing nvme. Btw the build is working a at 1% CPU on idle and 60w power consumption on Ubuntu 20.4. It spends 40 watt less than my old fx8150 and it runs like a dream. I commend you sir on your great work! And I stand behind the recommendation in this video 1000 %✓ Subscribed.

ASRock is actually coming out with a new line of motherboards called the Taichi Lite. They are have all of the Taichi features but without all of the RGB and fancy looking heat sinks and will cost quite a bit less. The X670E Steel Legend was also on sale a day or two ago for $262.

I recently bought the B550 Tiachi for my upgrade from i7 6700k to Ryzen 9 5950x. Looks good but faster M.2 and 8x Sata won me over if you want an AM4 but more RGB they do the same board in a Razer edition same goes for the x570 M/B. Was going to pair with my 3070Ti but got a good price trading in and buying a Radeon RX 6950 butnhad to upgrade my older Enermax Galaxy PSU 850 watt to an EVGA 1300GT, older PSU did not have 3x 6+2 pin connectors. The options at present are great and this build should last 6 plus years.

I'm still waiting for that sweet deal where I feel comfortable pulling the trigger. Since I recently upgraded my GPU from an RX 570 8GB to an RX 6800 16GB, the rest of my build is an R5 3600 with 64GB of cl16 RAM on a B450 Tomahawk. I'm actually considering the 7700 since its available, but it's the rest I'm not completely sold on. I might just wait until Black Friday or similar event and snatch up a good deal since my system still functions well enough.

You do a great job explaining the important feature for people trying to optimize value. I built a computer this past month, and I bought more CPU than I should have. I don't think it was enough to go up in GPU tiers. I got an 6700 XT for $330. The price jump to the tier above a 6700 XT is $150+.

If you got 7600 ryzen it's not bad. You got all future proof you need, basically you don't need to change your CPU, DDR5 ram and motherboard. Only thing you need for significant upgrade is to sell your GPU and get better one with money you got and ofc you need to pay more. You can max out your GPU and buy worse CPU but then you are locked with bad motherboard and no upgrade paths for CPU, basically you need to change everything. Generally yeah better GPU is better but getting AM5 early is amazing deal. You keep DDR5 ram, motherboard and CPU is very strong and you can wait till GPU purchases get better value.

Great Video Jason 👍 I didn't think the 7600 was all that fast, but it turned out to pack a punch for a 6 core non X CPU. I learned quite a bit about the value proposition in a budget AM5 platform upgrade today, so thanks! I often look for overpriced motherboards just because the i/o is so much better on the $250-$300 AM5 Mobos, but I realized that you can just get PCIE add in cards for USB4 or USB C 3.2 2x2 if you need those ports.

The current 5-level CPUs (Ryzen 5, Core i5) are the sweet spot for most gaming and consumer-level productivity builds. In truth, a very small percentage of PC users need more cores, but a lot are convinced to get more by going to the 7- or 9-level CPUs. My current gamer runs a 13700K with an ASRock 6800XT and 64GB of RAM on an ASRock Z690 Taichi motherboard, built to give a nice boost over the previous 3900X / 2080Ti machine and to provide headroom for a faster GPU if 7900XTX prices fall below $900 US. (CUDA and software benefits aside, I'm done with Nvidia.) I used to lean Gigabyte, but I'm leaning heavily into the ASRock camp these days.

The se-224xt actually outperforms the se-226xt. However, neither cooler is suitable for a 12 or 16-core CPU, so if you plan to upgrade later (which is MUCH MORE COMMON with AMD platform since the motherboard will be useful for many years), you might want to get a better cooler. I own an SE-224-xt which I use with my 5700g. I like the RGB and the cooler punches way above it price ($35) in terms of price/performance - it behaves like a $75 cooler, not a $35 cooler ...

Jason, only a small correction here, the Ryzen 5 7600 and the 7600x are NOT usually the same price. The Ryzen 5 7600 is about $25 cheaper than 7600x, and then you have to buy a cooler for the 7600x, so we are looking at around $50 to $70 more dollares for a 7600x.

In my new build I went with the MSI B650 Tomahawk because I wanted the upgraded audio, but the quality of the audio was bad and the audio had a high pitched squeal when gaming that I could not get rid of. So I purchased the Apple 3.5mm to usb c converter, which has a built in dac. It's $9 and the audio quality is so much better.

Currently on a 5600/3060. I’m thinking I’d benefit from a gpu upgrade before a cpu upgrade. I’m also more likely to change platforms over swapping to a 5800x3d as the cost of the 5800x3d is 70% higher than 7600+ free ddr5 ram and the difference can be used towards a new board making the cost difference minor
@x8jason8x
@x8jason8x Год назад
There's no reason to upgrade your platform, AM5 isn't mature enough yet, and the 5600 is absolutely still great for gaming. You'd 100% be better off upgrading the GPU first. If someone is upgrading from say ryzen 2000 or like Intel 10th gen... sure, go to AM5. No need to upgrade from AM4 though if you're on ryzen 5000 already.

I'm in the exact same place, 5600x and 3060 Ti. When looking and optimizing my system, it's always the GPU at 100% with the fans screaming. I've been waiting to see what comes out in the middle of AMD's range, but soon I'm just going to spring for a 7900 xt and move on.
@furiahispanica3823
@furiahispanica3823 Год назад
Not worth it the 5600 is still holding strong, it's a huge expense I rather get a better GPU, my future upgrade will be the 5800X3D I don't have to swap out anything. Considering I just upgraded, I'm good for a couple of years. If money is burning a hole in your wallet it's always your decision. I've been there before.
@cameronfrye5514
@cameronfrye5514 Год назад
@@furiahispanica3823 I get where you're coming from, but weigh your options carefully before buying a 5800X3D. Prices for a budget motherboard, 7600 and memory are rapidly dropping toward $400. The 5800X3D is holding around $330. For less than $100 more you move to a faster processor on a platform with an upgrade path. The 5800X3D is the fastest gaming chip you can put on the old platform, but the 7600 is already a faster gaming chip. I've been eyeing the 5800X3D for a while now and for the extra $100 or so the updated system is probably the better buy if you can swing it.

When I got my Newegg bundle of the Asrock mobo and 7700, I had to find memory next. I really wanted DD5 6000 CL30 but remembered everyone saying boards were hit and miss at the level. So I went and checked the mobo memory support page and ordered a G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 6000 cl30 2x16 set listed there. It worked flawlessly. The thing with the 7600 non X is, that if you just lower the power limit of the 7600X to 65 W, you'll get the same result as the non X variant. Plus, you will get slightly better performance in applications without the Power limit. And it's just 10$ more expensive (at least in my country)

From one day to the next, a supplier began selling them at a very reduced price to the main hardware stores, dropping public prices to $175. It was time for something good to happen in these lands. Although we have much better prices and stock than most of Latin America, the percentage it represents of our salary is much higher so any discount is greatly appreciated. I mean if you are going AM5 and DDR5 you might as well go for 64gb as your ram and motherboard should be good for the whole AM5 life and if it is anything like AM4 that should be a good long life. I would avoid the RGB kits though if you are going to go for 64gb. I saw a 64gb kit from Team T-Force for $150 which is a little cheaper then getting two basic 32gb kits to get up to 64gb.

I really wish AM5 had more budget boards with 2 ram slots because the platform runs much better wired for 2 ram slots and at the low end you should be focusing on the best 2 sticks you can afford and it would make the boards more affordable or allow them to put more options on the board. Also 32GBs of RAM, even on gaming only builds, will mean less page filing on your system (EDIT: less effect I mean... losing 4-6 GBs of 32 GBs is better than 2-3 GBs on 16 GBs). Not worth spending an arm and leg for but for a few more bucks I think it's worth it if it's in the budget.

Or G.Skill Flare / Ripjaws for $170 Yes it is about twice the price you can get a 32gb kit for but of course they are it is twice the ram it should be. That said I have paid that much or more for 16gb kits in the past.

Just wanted to throw in some of my input as I just built a 7700X build a few weeks ago. After updating the BIOS to the latest version (ASRock X670E mobo for reference) and updating all the required drivers and software for all components (7900XTX GPU, T-Force Delta 32GB ram kit and manually setting the speed to 6000MHZ, and a WD S850X M.2) that everything is running great with no issues and it's damn fast. My wife plays games on it (Elden Ring at the moment at 4k and settings on ultra with ray tracing enabled on the low setting) while I do some video editing and encoding and production type work on it and it's been solid with no blue screens or weird glitches to speak of. The games look incredible and and it's also great at production type tasks so I'm very pleased that I think this build is kinda like the ultimate jack of all trades type of scenario. If anything changes, I'll come back though and edit this... but, I'd say go with the 7700X. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

If we are talking about pure numbers, it might be a better move to get a 5800X3D for your 6950XT if you already have a good AM4 build. You could definitely get by with the 5800X3D for music production, and getting an extra 16Gb of fast DDR4 RAM is a lot cheaper than doing a whole platform upgrade. Staying on AM4 with the 5800X3D + 6950XT combo saves you $300-$400 now, plus it affords you another couple years to slowly save up and you will have a great budget to upgrade to a future AM6 or 15th/16th gen Intel platform plus have access to future graphics cards and big performance jumps, depending on how things develop. Just my 2c. If you have the money to burn on a platform upgrade, then the AM5 7600x will be plenty for music and basically the fastest gaming available, and you should get a chance to upgrade CPU + GPU at least 1 more time on AM5. It's a good problem to have when both options make sense and both options are good value. Good luck with your decision and whatever new parts you go with. Even a 5800X3D is going to feel very fast vs the 3600 you have now, and the IPC improvements plus 2 extra cores will be nice to have for production work, and the 3D V-Cache will be great for gaming.
