In today’s video, Jaxon and I install more key mods onto the TRX250 “SporTrax” that are essential to helping it perform better than it ever has before. We install some wider, softer, lighter and more aggressive rear wheels and tires (20X11-9 Holeshot Tires with 9" Polished Aluminum ITP Wheels). We install a set of Tusk Nerf Bars made for a newer style Honda TRX250EX SporTrax, and lastly we install a new Handle Bar Mounted Maier number plate with Jaxon's race number (22) and a pretty vintage looking Klotz Lubricants sticker. We then come up with a J&M Performance Compound Circuit (a time trial around the Compound/ Trails) and do a few laps to see who has the fastest time between Jaxon and I. Then, we thrash the TRX250 some more, we jump the life out of it and we FINALLY get it to wheelie (it even power wheelies!!) This little 250CC Utility Quad shreds even harder than it did before, and it jumps flawlessly! So with that being said, we really hope you enjoy today’s video!

Yeah we beat the life out of this thing, if something breaks we’ll fix it and make it stronger/ better. This thing is a tank though, it handles everything we throw at it!

Thanks a lot we really appreciate it!! Yeah we still beat the life out of her haha, she takes everything we throw at her. She’s a Honda, and yes we kept everything we took off of it for either a future project or just to have/ keep around.

@@JM.Performance you got a parts list somewhere? I just watched the video and need to beef mine up like this. Edit for: Found the parts list. Now I need to know is this the same as the Honda 4trax 250?

How difficult was it to put that carburetor on? I know you had to change the cable but other then that was it bolt on? Trying to find ways to get some more of that 250 power and torque outta mine

Also what about the exhaust what did you have to do for that?
@RnKrippin

How u put that exhaust on there

We just cut the factory muffler off at the header then used the supplied flange that came with the aftermarket slip on, welded it to the stock header, made a custom exhaust hanger for it and used a factory mount on the frame to mount the hanger to.

@@JM.Performance ik I have the same one I just don’t know how to put it on

@@RnKrippin Yeah just cut your factory muffler off, weld that coupling it came with to your factory header, then use the springs it came with and slide the new muffler into that coupling. Then just find a place on the frame to mount up the hanger it came with to hang the muffler.

I would subscribe, but your idea of MODS isn't all that. Had to skip through all the cleaning, painting, chrome wheels and tires blah blah blah... To find all you did was China looking carb, zip tied air filter and slip on exhaust. Nothing about jetting, valve adjustment etc... 🤷🏻‍♂️. SMH
@JM.Performance
@JM.Performance Год назад
We didn’t clean or paint anything in this video. We’re not doing the mods all at once, we’re doing them in a Stage 1, 2, 3… and so on. The wheels aren’t chrome they’re polished aluminum so yes they’re lighter. The carburetor is a 400EX knock off yes, but it works just as well as any other carb and is significantly bigger than the stock carb. The air filter isn’t zip tied, it’s hose clamped to the carb like it’s supposed to be. We deleted the air box on purpose, it needed more air. The valve’s were still in spec and we left the jetting a little fat since we have more mods coming… hot cam, head porting and polishing, a full exhaust (header and all), bigger valves, a high compression piston whether we decide to go to a 352CC bore or just stay standard, stiffer clutch springs, etc. We know what we’re doing 😉

@@JM.Performance Never implied that you didn't know what you were doing? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Updates coming, mods coming.... I'm basically looking for what you did to make it run "SO" good. I have 2 (1 year apart) and they run outstanding
@JM.Performance
@JM.Performance Год назад
Yeah boss I know you didn’t, I was just letting you know that we have a plan and know what to do/ know what we’re currently doing haha. That’s cool that you have two of these Honda’s, what year’s are they? All that’s been done to this one is the 400EX carb shoved into the stock intake boot with a 400EX throttle cable, the open Uni 400EX filter and stock header with a slip on muffler. Valve lash is still stock, jets in the 400EX carb are stock (what it came with). It is a little rich but like I said we left it that way because we plan on REALLY opening this quad up here soon, and we’re gonna need that extra fuel. These quads are just super de-tuned from the factory, that’s why a few simple bolt on mods like what’s done to ours can go a long way.

@@JM.Performance I'd have to look again. I believe 86 & 87. They're both 2x4s. You mentioned they were detuned from the factory.... I was wondering what you "undid". I would like mine to run better, still reliable, at the same time not at the expense of blowing it up. It's reliable now, but if I could get a little more or of it, I'm curious. Kind of like putting a tuner on a diesel pickup... it's going to run better, typically don't run as long or it needs to be rebuilt WAAAAY sooner than usual. I'm not sure if that makes sense, but that's why I was waiting for "the sauce" answer. I think stock main jet on 400ex is 148 and a 38. 🥵 I'd consider that and air filter... Pipe??? Not so sure.

@@edpoints1127 Yeah I understand what you’re saying man, these mid to late 80’s Honda 250’s had small carburetors on them from the factory, a super restrictive Utility style muffler and not only an air box but the intake tube connecting the carb and the air box on these is SUPER restrictive. The air coming into the carburetor hits a rubber wall essentially. Flows terrible. The factory carb diameter along with the header diameter are both smaller than their ports in the head. It’d basically be as if you ported a 450R head then put the stock exhaust, stock carb, stock air box and filter, and stock jetting back in/ on it… is how these quads came from the factory. So all we did was open it up. An open air filter = more air. Air filter straight off the end of the carb = no restrictions. Bigger diameter carb with fatter jets = more air, more fuel for that added air flow, and a better port matching from the carb to the head. Freer-flowing slip on muffler = less restrictions and let’s that added air coming into the motor escape. An aftermarket, big bore header is going to help us out tremendously… that’s coming next.
