gnavarro0822 yes it’s a race thing, what made black panther a better film than infinity war is that it had a social impact across the world in regards to the film industry. It went against the status quo, It got the ball rolling on the conversation for lack of inclusion for minorities in the film industry, it’s changing the way Hollywood interprets people of color, and how they are cast, and written into roles. It had political and social commentary whereas infinity war didn’t, it’s literally changing reality and the thinking process of these big business tycoons who runs the industry, and in my opinion movies like infinity war are killing good and artistic film making, yes the action was breath taking but there was barely any plot or character develop and the characters just felt like they were shoe horned into the film for the sake of capitalism, and tokenism. I liked infinity war but as a fan of film and cinematography, this movie didn’t really entice any thought provoking antidotes in preferably any subject matter in regards to society or just simply put the human psychosis. Leonardo da Vinci once said that simplicity is sophistication and black panther was a sophisticated cinematic film that’s challenging the social structure on how POC are viewed in the media, so yes it’s a race thing, but it’s a much needed racial thing to a certain diaspora of people who are looked down on in the media, and who are portrayed as thugs, comedic caricatures, maids, and helpless slaves in film. Avengers infinity war just felt like Disney bragging and trying to make buckets of money due to their capitalist views on society.

gnavarro0822 Actually that’s not true, black panther competed with Winchester, game night, peter rabbit, and in March pacific rim, ready player one, A wrinkle in time, tomb raider, red sparrow, and a ton of other films. Idk, we can agree to disagree but I judge a film from multiply aspects, not just box office success.

gnavarro0822 and the only reason why black panther didn’t do as well as infinity war in regards to the box office was because, 1. Infinity war had multiple characters from different franchises in one film, 2. Infinity war used black panther to boost the marketing and advertisement for the movie, that’s a fact, and 3. Black panther did better then infinity war domestically( people in the United stated liked black panther better then infinity war and thought it was a better film), but some of the marketing and reviews coming from China for black panther was very racist, some reviews said that there was to much black that I had to walk out of the theater, there dark skin was so DISTRACTING!!, the posters for the movie in the United States had t’challa in his suit with his mask off but in China it had the same one but with his mask on. And China is very known for being anti-black, they use black face and they say the n-word in their language regularly and loosely, just watch interviews about black people and their experiences there. And if you see the posters for infinity war in China, they seemed to feature less characters from the black panther franchise.
