The standing ovation came from the fact that it was a well kept secret among a very few involved in the Oscars that year, that he would be performing. Virtually no one in the audience knew he would sing his Oscar winning song. Blew them away.
I KNOW! I was searching for this comment otherwise I was gonna comment on this. I mean screw last year Super Bowl halftime, this was humankind's goodbye as we knew it.
I will never forget that night. I was in the hospital with my wife about to give birth of our first child and the tv was on with the oscars. Then eminem shows up, everybody, including the nurses was like wtf ??? This was really a legendary moment and I dont think watching it back captures how everybody in the audience was in shock. And a few minutes later my little boy was born ❤

Theres a lot of debate, but eminem is THE best rapper. The most well known, east coast, west coast, midwest, from the 90s to 2024, popular to everyone. Nobody has topped that.
I beg to differ. Where do you think all these rappers learned how to rap. Go back and look at the old guys who started it all. He is not the greatest but he is considered one of the best
Back in the day nobody believed in him. I started listening to Eminem back in 2000 and I listen to him non stop to this day. He's my inspiration into being a better human in life.
You’re a dumbass. This was the oscars aka Academy Awards. He won one for this song in 03. He is just performing it because it was an issue at winner in the past.
@@josephmontgomery3156 plus, what were you supposed to do? Speaking fax? Well fuck that. If you would work in a film industry, and your role is a guy that speaks of trivia in Movies, you better be nice, or your boss would fuck you up. 😂
@@niero4201 he used the playback cuz he had to censure some words so the "playback" would say them for him and don't have any problem and 90% of the performance is his natural voice, the other 10% are swears that he had to censure
The vibe is not even a word to describe the energy this man presents. He truly had these people feeling the vibe & the energy!!! Absolutely deserving standing ovation!!!
All those hollywood types...and 98% knew every damned word. Forget Instagram... THIS is how you become a legend. Unflenching, unfailing, unaplogetic. Love you, Ems! ❤
Man, this dude came from nothing, literally. Poverty and desperation were his constant companions. He chased his dream with grit and tenacity and became a legend. His life story is truly an inspiration and a lesson in courage.
while other 1000 people at least tried the same and didnt suceed. He had a lot of luck (and talent of course). But luck is the most important thing in life if you want to suceed. Not hard work.
"success" 😂😂 the man had more personal problems and demons than anyone can imagine.. but yeah, people, dumb as they are, think you succed based on idiotic understanding of it. Kurt Cobain was a massive, massive success.
Palms spaghetti, knees weak arms spaghetti, there’s vomit on his sweater already, moms spaghetti He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm spaghetti To drop bombs. But he keeps on forgetti What he wrote down, the spaghetti goes so loud he opened his mouth but the spaghetti won’t come out He’s choking how, everybody’s spaghetti now The clocks run out, times up spaghetti pow
What astonishes me every time is how absolutely wild the crowd goes when he walks on stage, no matter who's in the crowd. He's revered like a god. It just gives me electricity chills.
Performance was all the more awesome because this song won the Oscar in 2008 and Em wasn’t there to play it because no one thought it would win. Awesome performance.
*XD* I Know it's just a joke but the Words "Mom Spaghetti" was him telling what he threw up Basically Saying he was so nervous he couldn't digest anything. So it's not that funny if you think about it.
@@Alex-im1rq Basically The Character that Eminem plays In the Movie *8Mile* is Jimmy Smith R. Who is otherwise Called on by his nickname in the movie which is *B-Rabbit* So in the Movie B-Rabbit Has a Scene where he goes to the toilets before his Battle and He's So Nervous for his battle with The Character played by Eminem's Best Friend [Proof (Deceased)] *Lil Tic* that B-Rabbit pukes out what he ate Because his stomach doesn't feel right Cuz of the Nervousness and he had ate His Mom's Hand-Made spaghetti before the scene where he pukes so when Eminem Raps these Lines *"There's vomit on his* *sweater already Mom's* *Spaghetti"* He is talking about B-Rabbit As the Rapper himself Claimed that the 1st verse is about B-Rabbit Which is why the rapper Continiously uses the Word *"He"* So That's the story behind the Mom Spaghetti Line.
His live performances of 20 year old songs still sound more like original than most rappers performing their current songs (not even talking about autotune)
I’m sure at the time of the birth of rap, no one could have thought that in this culture and style of music and life, no one could have thought that someday a white guy could become like a real legend bringing the truth, but he exists and he still probably the end of times the one and only - Eminem
Look at the crowd. Every race, religion & whatever other labelled stereotype is there. All singing along. Em truly changed history. He helped bring people together and changed cultural landscape. An absolute legend who will rightfully be remembered forever
@@BakedPotatoYT1 yeah, grammy is more and more trash now in 2019 the best rap album should be kamikaze but know if 2021 mtbmb won't have a grammy i will stop watching it
The song we all hear in the gym The song we play when life goes tough The song we play when you're in transit The song we play when studying And it stills hits hard
I'm not sure in how many people's lives this song has made an impact but it certainly had impacted in many stages of my life positively. Still is & will be.. Legend ❤ forever.
Don't forget about 2 diamonds and 2 of his albums are in the top 10 biggest sellin hip hop albums of all time, as a matter of fact, mmlp is THE most sold hip hop album of all time.
