Your right, time for BIG BUILDS, roads, bridges, power plants, hi-rise, treatment plants, and large manufacturing all take min of 5 years from want to reality. Is the new bridge up that the cargo ship hit? I'll bet they don't even have more then a picture of a look, zero prints to build or engineering. It was not Joe's project and your clueless to what it take with permits, to complete. 3-5 yrs to make a shovel move. Sorry 25yrs of heavy construction of building 100k to 250k sf factories, and power plants. PROJECT MANAGER.

We recently opened our own business, but my husband and I worked in aerospace for 16 years, building commercial airline seats. Within the last year, they moved all the manufacturing to Mexico and now our facility is only assembly lines. It's sad to see everything go outside of the US. 50 years of a great company down the tubes. The parts that are manufactured in Mexico are garbage! Much lower quality standards and not built right. American workers have to disassemble and reassemble most of the parts, but somehow it's still cheaper this way. Fixing other people's screw ups on a daily basis is not a fulfilling job either.

Labor cost are a big expense for companies. Globalization allows companies like manufacturers to make a bigger profit while paying lower wages. John Deere, for example, is doing smart buisness by relocating its production to Mexico. It's not good for Americans but the old ways of the economy are slowly fading away. No matter who is president.

News flash everyone... It's expensive to manufacture in the USA because of high wages. It's cheap to manufacture in places where labor is cheap. Any publicly traded or private equity-owned manufacturer will seek to reduce whatever cost they can. Eventually that means moving labor over the border.

You can't blame it all on labor wages. Regulations cost companies a ton of money, regulations that most other countries don't have and contribute to lower costs outside of the US. Why do you think we ship our crude oil to China to refine? Less regulations, costs less. China just blows the toxins straight into the air, while that's not allowed here in the US. That's how I know the green initiative is a scam. If they wanted a cleaner world, they wouldn't be shipping raw goods to China to process without environmental protections.

Can/will anyone name a manufacturing job created in their state? I will go first. Ultium Cells (EV batteries) factory is under construction in Spring Hill, TN. Out in front of the former Saturn plant, now owned by GM. Don't know if it is financed by any green new deal money. Nor do I know how many jobs will be created. Just trying to start a non hateful dialog.

Inflated jobs numbers has been going on for years. Every month it seems that the government releases a really good jobs report and makes a big deal about it while quietly revising the old jobs reports down.

Talk about irony.. I worked for a manufacturer that gradually replaced almost all workers with Mexicans. A few years later, they moved the plant to Mexico. I guess the cheap labor here wasn’t low enough for the company.
