If only ANY of the extreme-left would do that - admit that PERHAPS just MAYBE they could have handled things better, we could mend things, but so long as they always take the moral high-ground and continue to INSIST they are correct, even when you can prove them wrong, then there is no hope for them. This bizarre concept of “my truth” has been around longer than some realize. My story; back in 1993 I was working as a computer programmer at a bank. My manager quit, and was replaced by this lady around 50. One day I was telling her about the night operators chronic errors, and his lies about it. She cut me off and said “Well, your truth is different from Ted’s truth. “. I had ZERO idea what she meant. I replied “No. there’s truth and there’s lies. What Ted is telling you is lies. “ Then she went on some long rant about everyone having “their own truth”. It was there and then I knew my new boss was insane. It was only years later I realized that her words are code for “I’m a crazy liberal. “.

I've come full circle on Piers. I didn't like him in the past, then thought he was being disingenuous when he started expressing more nuanced opinions, now I genuinely believe that he has recognized his own flaws and made strides to improve himself. Bravo, Piers. We could all learn a thing or two from your humility and growth.
Btw “coming full circle” on something is to go back to what you started with. So in this case saying that would mean that you went from not liking him to liking him, then back to not liking him again. In your case say “pulled a 180” instead. 👍

Piers is part of that growing group of classic liberal, who I tend to enjoy listening to (even if I don’t always agree), who know the left well enough to call out their bs, and who challenges the right whenever they stray from their principles. These are good people.

Agreed! I love that Shapiro can actually civilly debate. I really like it when liberals and conservatives can sit down and actually debate in a civil manner. Shapiro strives to understand the other side. Then he shuts them down with empirical logic.
I had previously considered myself a traditional Liberal. However, when trying to engage in open conversation with the current Left, is almost traumatic. Even if we ask polite, genuine questions, we are just met with vulgar insults and threats. It’s pushed me, and my husband, towards the right. Even if I disagree with people on the right, they don’t call me names, or threaten my family. They argue, with facts-based opinions.
They also so strongly believe in their opinions with no evidence that they will gaslight anyone who disagrees with them into thinking maybe I am racist/sexist.. etc

This is great to see two highly intelligent people from different viewpoints actually growing in their understanding of each other; on the topics that they've covered specifically, as well as their demeanor in general. Ben is becoming less and less passive-aggressive, and Piers is learning how detrimental it can be to let emotions run a debate unchecked. Conversation like this is our society's only hope.

Their "views and beliefs" have NOTHING to do with it, no matter how loudly they scream at the sky. One irrefutable law of the universe is, facts and truth will always remain uninfluenced and unchanged by a person's views and beliefs. The words "views" and "beliefs" don't even belong in the same conversation as the words "truth" and "facts."

He's actually a very intelligent, articulate man who talks a lot of sense. He talks quickly as he has so much information in his head he has to get it out quickly. Are you articulate and clever enough to beat him in an argument? 🤔
I used to despise Piers Morgan, but since he has finally opened his mind to actually *hearing* the other side of the aisle and kept an open mind, he is finally seeing the *truth.* There will forever be bad politicians on both sides of the aisle, which is why it's so important to be objective without absorbing everything your favorite news source is feeding your mind. I've developed so much respect for Piers throughout the recent years.

"Facts don't care about your feelings" resonates because older generations understand that facts are permanent, facts form the basis of everything we understand about the world. Feelings are transient, temporary... You can't build a functional society on something as mutable as feelings.
Piers' interviews have definitely matured well...gives the guest time to speak without being interrupted, doesn't force his opinion, recognises and admits his own flaws.
Piers admits himself - he was letting his emotions get in the way of factual debate. This is what is happening everywhere - people are failing to stay objective due to their emotions.

My opinion of Piers Morgan is shifting a lot recently. I used to brush him off as an argumentative bully, but the more I watch his videos recently the more realise I was just being unfair. He makes some great points and is willing to stand by his principles, and he has humility.

That was one of the most mature and refreshing interviews I have seen in recent times, between two people whose views do not always align, but who treat each other with respect and who debate objectively not emotionally, with an open mind. In doing so, their opinions evolve and adapt towards a consensus. That happens so rarely these days, it is almost unique 😢
This was not a debate, but a conversation. Peoples inability to admit they're wrong in a debate setting, is why Michael Malice says he never has them, only does conversations. In a debate everyone comes in with "my truth," and vast majority of people are incapable of admitting that they're wrong, willing to say pretty much anything to feel like they won. I guess it comes from debate format being combative/confrontational, which puts people in a combative state. While conversations are by their nature cooperative.

Thomas Sowell is a perfect example of what Ben was saying about people dismissing or refusing to consider data due to motivations they attribute to the person providing the data. Sowell is literally one of the greatest minds ever produced in the U.S. yet he is treated dismissively by most who refuse to accept his findings due to ideology. he is a national treasure whos work will never get the attention he deserves. most young people will never even know he exists, and obviously there are many other examples. he is just the first and most egregious example that came to mind.
But the counter to that is "my feelings don't care about your facts" which summarizes a lot of woke culture. Not saying it's true but that's how those people think.

Feelings are not necessarily based on lies. That they are not is a fact, not a feeling. Feelings are based on people's perceptions.....and reaction to situations. The problem is we often perceive the same facts in different ways. It is when we insist that our own perception is right, that everyone else is wrong and that to disagree with us is an attack on ourselves. Narcissism!
@@MrVijay0611 Both of these statements are right, but Sean's hits at the core. Truth and Lies exist from the beginning of time; facts just reveal them. It may be better understood if the word "in" was used, instead of "on". Of course, not all feelings are based in Lies, and not all facts are based in Truth. This is where it gets challenging, discerning between Truths and Lies, especially on a personal level.

It's really good to see two people that once stood toe to toe opposing each can carry on as civil human beings. Passion... both expressing them and listening to them takes strong people to interact with each other and keep the respect in place. But like Ben said, TRUTH is the most important thing when it comes to working out problems. I have said for years... emotions are usually good at bringing/showing where problems are, BUT it's logic that usually corrects them. We need both, passion and logic and we need them used honestly and wisely. If, not.... little gets done well quickly.
