My Dad was 17 when he was conscripted into Hitler's war. Like the man in this story, he also didn't want to kill anyone or be killed. He fled Czechoslovakia and went across the border to Austria, where he literally starved for weeks. It was a scary time for him, but it was also the best decision he ever made. A few years later he was given the opportunity to move to Australia. He wanted to get as far away from the war as possible. He lived peacefully in Australia till his passing at 93 years of age. 🙏 If you're a male citizen of Russia, RUN! Get out of Russia as fast as you can. Live a peaceful life away from dictators like Putin.

Him leaving Russia, fleeing Putins war, IS an act of protest. It is not "weakness." Fleeing the Russian government and telling his story is a very brave action. It is not weakness to value your life.

The thought of having to pick some clothes, leave what you've earned and worked for and abandon your home to embark to a new state with zero plans, no money, no family, no food, is just frightening

Why should these young and healthy men have to fight in a war? They deserve to live life to the fullest. We all have one life to live.

So heartbreakin..I know here in America we have our own issues but I'm safe in my home w my kids right now..I couldn't imagine this..the look on thier faces..I have a blind grandmother what would I do w her a 3 yr old and a 7 yr old I'd be pure hell on earth so sad for them

I served 2 tours in Iraq and I don't envy the difficult choice these Men have been forced to make. They are braver and bolder than most people realize.

This whole thing is very sad. And for those who are shown on camera, I pray for them, especially in this environment. May this all END NOW, and give people their lives back.

It’s a shame that in 22 this type of situations still happen and civilians have to make these tough choices to leave or risk dying if they stay

I find it very "ironic" that Georgia, a country once invaded by Russia is now offering refuge to these fleeying Russian young men that are trying to avoid going to war. That's very noble and admirable of Georgia. I hope all of this will be over soon, it's just an horrible scenario. 🇬🇪❤

A friend of mine left for Batumi, in Georgia, months ago, thank God. Others went more recently to Poland, Romania, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Only one remains, in Novosibirsk. We are very worried for his safety. No one has heard from him in a very long time. But, there are tens of millions of young Russian men left who could potentially be affected by this insanity, not to mention the misery inflicted on the people of Ukraine.

No one should ever be forced to kill anyone, anywhere, ever.

These guys are real heroes for leaving as nothing is worth the weight of war and killing of innocent people.

Prayers for these young men. They are taking a stand against horrific atrocities in Ukraine. Prayers for supporters who are against Putin and his cohorts.

This is absolutely terrifying. There aren't words in the English language to describe the magnitude of sacrifice it takes to make choices that completely change the course of your life. Look how long it took many of these people to leave. Many waited and now its coming to its worst point where they are detained. I commend these people for their bravery, commitment to what they believe and stand for. I commend them for making decisions that are monumentous for the sake of their families, and their quality of life..regardless of their paths possibly leading to uncertainty..In order to make decisions tremendous as these..it takes true grit, it takes a person to take a hard look into themselves. To look at what this will lead to..while there are those with no idea of where they'll go or how they'll survive! Willing to risk it all for freedom is scary!! It takes a person who is willing to drop pride, and cut through the layers within..the ones that at times influence, blind, and transform us and keep us against one another...realizing we've come to be in a place that is out of with the person they truly are and need to be in these moments. It takes the strength to question our emotions, decisions and actions...While others who've known the truth question their ability to survive..to have courage..they question their faith..T.V does not have the ability to gravitate the magnitude of catastrophe and monstrosities taking placel! I dont care if it is occuring in Timbuck 2! The point is that it is happening in society in a day and age where many of us had hoped for a change..for progress in how we evolve.. People here in the U.S repeatedly speak of the same issues yet nothing has actively changed in a way that is crucial to the outcomes we experience. WE need to come to the realization that we as a people must fight so we do not experience similiar circumstances! Ones that are already actively changing the course of our lives!!!! We only see a small minute fraction of what goes on while decisions are being made in the balance. Ones people will naively agree with. Ones that will have a catastrophic impact on the lives of those of us who are against a tyrannical Government. Where will we go? What will YOU do? Naturally as individuals it is not our preference to focus on the bad..we hide from it..ignore it..refuse to accept it..doubt it..or argue its untrue or fabricated..while watching this chaos unfolding right before our eyes. Day to day from a tiff with a coworker, to a rude uber, to a snotty, customer, a friend who betrays us, losing a parent, friend, or family member...loss of a job..spiral in mental health..kids being hypersexualized in schools..We IGNORE it..we dont want to place energy into feeling or acting on these things that bring nothing but upset or sorrow and turmoil to our lives..Things that would cause us to take action in a way we never have had to before..to speak up..If we cannot get past certain feelings, and emotions in our daily lives how will we be ready to face the consequences of what it will take to protect ourselves, our families, and eachother??? My heart is heavy..and goes out to ALL of the men, women and children in Russia and Ukraine..Those who have escaped..to those who have not..to those who have lost your loved ones..and to those who have begun your journey in fleeing to protect your lives...I pray for every one of them..As well as those in other countries who are suffering...while those atrocities not aired for us to see...If I was able I'd take in as many people as possible until they are able to find a more permanent place. I hold strong views when it comes to every individuals right to freedom..No matter your political standpoint, as a Republican, or a Democrat..regardless of your race or ethnicity, as White, Black, Chinese, Hispanic Russian, Native American, Alaskan Native, Korean, Japanese, Laos, Filipino, Nigerian..etc no matter the dollar amount you make, social status, or religion! WE MUST TAKE A DEEP LOOK AT OURSELVES, WHO WE'VE BECOME, HOW WE HAVE ALLOWED OURSELVES TO BE INFLUENCED. ASK OURSELVES IF OUR BEHAVIORS ALIGN WITH THE MORALS AND PRINCIPLES WE STAND UPON ROOTED WITHIN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS. My family are living in Delaware since 1998. But my Mom with my brother and sister are living in Shyroka Balkan, Kherson region, Ukraine. My brother moved our Mom to his house in Kherson. And few days a russian missiles has destroyed our Childhood house. I was crying few days.... I never forget russians!!!!!!!!

This gives the rest of the world a first hand look at what kind of human beings the people of Russia are, which is a vastly different idea than what many of us had of them. I'm glad so many are walking away from war - it shows we are elevating spiritually. We are not here to kill and disable others; we are on Earth to help one another.

What a nightmare

My grandparents fled russia facing starvation 100 years ago and with this current crisis I feel for russian citizens fleeing a corrupt regime! Russia has a long history of being hard on its citizens! As one door closes… another opens and a chance for a better life remains🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
