The quake that rocked Taiwan is a stark reminder of how quickly and unexpectedly an earthquake can trigger a dangerous tsunami. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center Science Officer Stuart Weinstein said a tsunami even three feet high is enough to cause damage.

Your MAUI OFFICIALS DIDN'T WARN YOU, It WASN'T The Federal Govt.!!!!! The Maui Fire was NOT Joe Biden's Fault, Folks!!! It was the Grasses which were Perfect to catch Fire blown in a HUGE WIND EVENT that caused Fire, it was NOT again NOT the GOVT. Fault!

Well said! Everybody had warnings of high fire danger and Highwind warnings days in advance yet after the fire lots of people just wanted someone else to blame rather than their own common sense and another mortal enemy called the wind.

Not a matter of if, but a matter of when, with that knowledge, why in the world is the Honolulu zoo in that location. All those poor animals would almost certainly meet a terrible drowning death. What is the Protocall for the Honolulu zoo knowing that a Tsunami WILL eventually hit the islands.

If you travel the Hawaiian Islands, you will notice a knock in all of the mountains at a out 500 feet. Geologists found sea shell fragments in it. A tsunami caused it. That is the history of the islands.

i live in okinawa and when the taiwan earthquake happened our cell phones first went crazy. i didn't think my cell phone could be that loud. it was almost ear splitting. then we heard tsunami sirens then we heard police on loudspeakers telling people about the incoming tsunami that was supposed to be up to 10 ft high. we didn't have that much time, about an hour, to react because we're real close to taiwan. hawaii needs to up its game. I'm glad i slept thru the "incoming ballistic missle alert, this is not a test" lame message that got sent out to hawaii residents a few years ago

2:13 In the 1980’s the policy was to sound the sirens right away. There was a warning, everyone rushed to the beach to see the tsunami, and at the time the tsunami hit the beach roads were all gridlocked with traffic. Fortunately the tsunami was tiny. Lesson learned. So then the policy was FIRST to warn the police so they could take control of the roads and force traffic to only move Mauka… But now sounds like if the tsunami is big enough they might not have a delay?

South America has had many deep earthquakes since 2018, many as deep as 600miles and many at 400mi. The most dangerous place that has had little or no release of tension is on the Farallon Plate @ Washington State - Canada. A geological professor at Wa State University, Nick Zentner, has some great RU-vid videos on this phenom. Seattle Fault etc. Enjoy

The red zones are meant for evacuation even if it is minor because they're more dangerous to be in every scenario. They also evacuate in extreme cases. It's very intuitive, I think you misunderstood it somehow

Earthquakes and tsunamis have happened for thousands of years and will happen for thousands of more. Not every disaater that happens is man made. If man had the power to create M7+ earthquakes, we’d wouldn’t be making nuclear weapons. Not to mention the amount of energy you would need to move tectonic plates that much.
