Not sure how it works down there, but in Canada the defense and prosecution teams only get so many disqualifications each. After that both parties must agree unanimously to reject a Juror, but the two sides can no longer unilaterally reject any more. Edit: Ok, later in the interview it is mentioned that there is a limit on the strikes.

It all comes back to the election. Even if convicted, it’s likely he’ll be released on bail pending resolution of appeals. He won’t be jailed before the election.
