‘James Maddison Doesn’t Need To Say Anything!’ England World Cup Squad 

England are very fortunate to have such selection difficulties in these positions. Ben White, although has been playing right-back would fit nicely on the right side of a back three. Although i think Kyle Walker is a nailed on starter in that position for us at the moment. James Maddison is in absolutely inspired form, but he's also got to compete with Phil Foden and Mason Mount, alongside any other midfielders playing part of that three, like Bellingham, Rice etc. They're all top class! At least we know whoever isn't picked we'll still have a quality team. I'm more worried about selections for Centre-back and Goalkeeper at the moment. I think Ramsdale should be starting, however Southgate has shown time and time again he favours Pickford. Also similar situation with Maguire. We arguable have Stones, Walker, White, Tomori and even Smailling who should be given the call ups before Maguire. Not even sure if Maguire should even be picked over Coady and Keane even. The earlier Southgate would of made these calls, but he didn't have the pressure he does now. Defensive selection is absolutely critical to building the right squad. We are going to have decent full backs no matter what, just CB and GK need to be spot on. I know some top class players will inevitably be left out in every other position, but it's definitely time Maguire was dropped and we look to Milan, Roma, Arsenal for their respective English Centre backs that are in much better form.

@@egzy_420 I don't disagree, especially based on current form. All those goal involvements i'd be surprised if he doesn't start. Mason Mount can play deeper though. I think Maddison and Foden will be competing for the advanced midfield position. Mount is still quality though. Not a fan of the defense lol.

@@Mark_106 excuse me ? Most countries pick players on form for their countries or as you put it on fire. The problem is not the players on fire for their club not playing well for England but the rubbish coaches England pick to coach. Didier Deschamp is an ex French player whose picked in form players and won the Euro's and the World Cup. Its difficult when you pick a politically correct coach who picks players not on form but loyalty. Martinelli was picked for Brasil and Pedro from flamengo without having been to a major tournament. Don't get your point.

@@tessa7582 oh really on home soil sure we beat Germany in the semi final and lost to Italy in the finals when we should have pulverised Italy and the 1st decent team we meet in the semi in Croatia we lost playing atrocious football. @@D1Snr honestly don’t think he’ll go to city m8, he’ll want loads of game time, he won’t get that at city there to good, there midfield is outstanding in every department.

@@jonathanwaugh5378 I agree. But I believe he could provide good competition for for Bernardo Silva who I reckon will be off sooner rather than later. Gundogan is also leaving at the end of the season. If Maddison was at Man City he would score 10 and assist 10 before Christmas. I have no doubt about that

@@D1Snr yep totally agree about the goal contributions, and like you say if silva does leave and gundogan doesn’t sign a new contract then there’s a much better possibility of it happening.

England are a decent team with decent players. Nothing about them will be found out. It’s just due to the lack of tactical understanding from Southgate why they have failed.

@@andrewjoyce9038 whilst a better manager could’ve beat Italy, to pretend we have a world class team is mad, I’d say half the team is lacklustre but the good news is a lot of national teams are poor atm
