@@thirteentimes365 at 1-1 and 20 minutes to go they had momentum and Spain were down their (awarded) player of the tournament. I think Olmo was better personally but Rodri took the award.
@Ligerpride Being level at 1-1 doesn't equate to having the game in the palm of your hand, though. When you're leading, then yes, you can say a game was yours for the taking, but not when things are even and you've been battered for most of the game.

Mate honestly I think that's a silly point to make. One player's performance doesn't make a team. That being said, kane was absolutely nowhere in this whole tournament. Starting Kane was almost preemptively praying for a penalty. Which is all he is good at for England apparently.

Had no right being in that final. Lucked our way there, 45 mins of good football all tournament, leading for 34 mins the entire comp, one shot on target in each euro finals. Under Gareth we are passive, ponderous and absente of structure and attacking ideas. His loyalty to underperforming players and in ability to react in game is a huge issue. Bare minimum with this team is reaching finals, what he has done hasnt been success but the bare minimum.

Unfortunately some English fans outside the arenas in Germany were different. They called our towns "shitholes", showing models of spitfires to remind us that we lost the war. They celebrated Germany's defeat against Spain, at least this was an own goal. I'm very sure that Engand would have won a final against Germany, but they preferred Spain. The Scottish conguered our hearts, great fans, 30,000 of them marched through Cologne many of them dressed traditionally and playing bagpipes. We were enthusiastic.

Spain had to play Italy, Germany and France whereas England only had to play Mickey Mouse teams. We had the best players yes but we need to focus on playing as a team one unit that's what counts.

Watkins and Toney should have been the 2 main forwards rotating!!!! Bellingham should have been benched while Foden played his usually position, Saka and Gordon on the wings!!!! Palmer and Mainoo playing midfield, Rice is not yet a defensive midfielder, Dier or Stones could have been a better choice!!!!

England played against weaker teams than Spain and won them having some luck, yeah is true, they weren't a great team for some reason or another for most of the people (included me), BUT: they were in the finall, many other teams have arrived to finalls because of luck, luck in football plays a big part, and I love the menthality of England supporters so positive, objective and realistic about Spain being winners cause the played better the whole tournament, and that kind of menthality what England national footbal team needs and how they will win an international tournament soon (I hope), you acknowledge what you think is not working and how others make it work and with positivity you fix it, improve it and go for the next one with all your heart like other teams. Tactically - waiting to go behind before chancing a leg up front played into Spain's hands. Starting with maybe Watkins and, crucially, Palmer - and reverting to Kane late in the game - would have been conducive to England's chances. Southgate should have started with his changes and changed to his starting XI, more or less. Commiserations to the players who gave their all, no sympathy for Southgate who squandered their talents, and congratulations to Spain who were worthy champions all the way through the tournament.
In my opinion building a tea, around Harry Lane who was average in this tournament and one or two other good players is wrong approach. You need to build a team with good depth of players who can adapt with major players missing. Going off England's across the entire tour a,ent will mean unless they improve they will get beaten badly in the world cip. One idea is to increase the number of playing fields and increase funding for grassroots football. Ltys be honest 1966bwas a long time ago so it is poßinle but has failed many times since. Maybe e should take a page out of Spain book as woman's team won the world Cup and men's team have won multiple titles.
