‘Outrageous’: Trump legal team presents ridiculous Presidential Immunity argument to Supreme Court 

Ridiculous that the US Supreme Court even took up this case!

Just think about it. In the USA they are arguing whether or not a President should have the right to be a criminal while in office and not have to worry about it one bit.

Idiocracy abounds. These arguments are so painfully, laughably DUMB that we should all be utterly disgusted that the court even entertained considering them.

When a head of state is immune from any prosecution fro criminal acts, you get a Hitler, a Stalin, a Mao, a Pol Pot, and... a Putin.

I am just speechless at the mental and moral corruption of certain justices on this court.

If the supreme court says the president is immune, then Joe Biden can end this MAGA madness right now.

That the Supreme court is hearing a case to determine if a seated president can commit murder, theft or espionage is an indictment of both trump and the court. The average eight grade student can answer this question.

How is this even a question? This is insane!

I am not a legal scholar, but this seems rather simple. Congress (The House and Senate) makes the laws. The Executive President must enforce those laws, which implies and means that the Executive must also follow those laws (one cannot enforce the rule made by objective others and not also be subject to the rule). When Congress passes a bill and makes it a law, the Executive cannot just ignore it by stating that he or she is immune and that the law does not apply to him/herself nor to anyone else. Let's take this simple example and see where it leads: Congress passes a budget. The President completely ignores the budget, which is the law of the land. And the President is declared immune by the Judicial Branch. So what prevents a President from ignoring Congress altogether? They can pass whatever laws they wish, but the Executive "chooses" which laws to uphold and which to ignore, thus committing "official acts"? If a Democratic Congress passes a law which a Republican President disagrees with, what is the effective law? If a Republican Congress passes a Law, what prevents a Democratic president from doing whatever they want with the budget anyway? If a Bi-Partisan Congress unanimously passes a Law and the Executive decides to enforce only part of it, then how many of our tax dollars were wasted in the Bi-Partisan negotiation? Immunity has no default place in republics or democracies; by definition, it is the exception to the rule of democratic law. Only Dictatorial and Monarchial governments have such rule.. The Founding Fathers launched the American Revolution to prevent exactly this type of abuse of law by King George.

This is so very embarrassing for so many reasons. How can we say as a country that we are the leading nation among nations and we are not even following our own law! Why should other countries respect us! We need to put a term limit on this supreme court because instead of looking to the law they are looking at party lines. Insanity.

Why do we have a constitution if it's not going to be followed. Artical 2 spells out the presidents authority and it doesn't give him absolute immunity. So why would Scotus consider changing it.

If the Supreme Court decides in trump's favor what would stop a President from removing a S.C. Justice he didn't like? He could lock a judge or anyone else up without due process. I hope the S.C. thinks about the disaster they would create.

It is a sickness that we even have to discuss this. SCOTUS demands to determine if pigs can really fly by reviewing testimony from aviation experts. 😂

This is yet another farce from the Supreme Court. There are two questions at issue; does the President have absolute immunity and if not does he have immunity for some actions? The obvious answer to the first is no, there is no absolute immunity, otherwise there is a dictator for life. The answer to the second is yes/maybe, it depends on the actions. Rather than trying to determine what actions would have immunity the Supreme Court can simply rule that the courts will make that determination on a case by case basis as and when the question of immunity for a specific act is raised. Job done, 5 minutes deliberation, an hour to type it up.

In Arizona we have two or three of our Supreme Court Justices on every ballot asking if they should be given another term (right now 7 Republican’ts but 2 will be on the next ballot). Be a parent, the answer is no when you wanna avoid taking responsibility you don't argue both and say "if it were criminal he has to be impeached and convicted" Convicted means criminal charges. It's in the name. CONvicted. Let the case proceed and lob your defense like man...jeez, grow up. Presidential Immunity for official acts...so unserious. Cases are decided on the merits in a court of law not precedents avoiding a real trial.
