Catherine is 100% my favourite of Henry's wives. I believe that Henry would have agreed in all counts apart from her not giving him a son. She was a great queen and deserved so much better than what she was given.

It’s so refreshing to see cat grain getting the praise she deserves I came from a Tudor video and I honestly think if Natalie dormer had not played Anne not so many people would like her cuz if we are going off how she acted the the Tudor she was not likable I don’t think she desire to die but she brought it upon herself in a way that I was like stop plus it’s hard to feel badly for someone whom legit was trying to manipulate Henry into killing his innocent daughter she was a legit pre teen / younger side teenager at that time and you have Anne saying how she can’t convince a son till Henry kills Mary and Catherine it’s horrible . She was beautiful don’t get me wrong but how the Tudor tv show portrayed her honestly she’s not that great she wished the death of two innocent women plus she fucked over so many members at court she had no more friends left at court the boylen aimed to high I don’t think Anne could have ever done what Queen Catherine of Aragon did riding into battle pregnant ruing as regent Henry only left two of his queens as regent Catherine of Aragon queen of England and Katharine parr god daughter of Catharine of Aragon . Never Anne why is this she crazy I hate putting them against each other and everyone wants to blame Henry well it takes two to tango .

I was kind of disappointed in the ending. It is good don't get me wrong, but I was hoping for more Catherine scenes and events. They should continue with a few more episodes of her life event when in history it tells about how Catherine of Aragon had kept fighting for her marriage, trial, her nephew's input, and the pope influences, Henry had sent his former wife to banishment, separation from her daughter Mary than her death. I was kind of hoping to see more of it because we barely see any event about Catherine and what it was like for her away from her husband, daughter, and the court.

@LeeLou Stei yes it dose. Mary was the daughter of King James V of Scotland and his second wife, Mary of Guise. Mary's great-grandfather was Henry VII, making Henry VIII her great uncle. Elizabeth I was Mary's cousin. Given that Mary was only an infant, her great-uncle Henry VIII made a bid for control. Remember every event has its place. Has everything to do with birth of Mary queen of Scotland. And the great Rivalry between two cousins Mary Queen of Scots vs Elizabeth 1st . Yet Mary still won that battle because her son James VII became king of England. And her great great granddaughter now Queen Elizabeth 2nd . If it wasn’t for Queen Mary 1st .

@@smilemma4004 I couldn't agree more, The Split Crown is also a good movie! Sorry to go on a tangent but I ... I greatly dislike the Spanish Princess for a plethora of reasons. 1). Not that I dislike Ruari, but I don't think that he was the best choice for Henry Tudor -- for season one anyhow. It's like the production team conveniently forgot that Henry was a literal CHILD when Katherine arrived in England. Ruari is ... what? Twenty something? I wasn't convinced. Their first meeting is my favorite scene in the book because he's yammering a mile a minute, and Katherine shows genuine amusement as he leaves to ride ahead and get everything ready for her. I feel like they should have actually cast a child for this bit, or at least someone younger than both Ruari and Charlotte who could play a convincing ten/eleven-year-old. I wish that they would have followed Isabel and shown that there is a spark between the pair that, over time, develops into something more. I wish that they would have shown in greater detail that Henry is obviously crushing HARD on his sister-in-law, and this precocious streak that most ten-year-olds have. With S2, bring in Ruari, a prince turned king, who never forgot his promise to his late brother's wife, and would make good on it. 2) Unlike Michelle and Rodolfo, who had palpable chemistry, I hardly felt anything for Charlotte and Ruari's portrayals. If anything, at times, the acting seemed kind of wooden. You can tell that M and R spent time off screen just as much as they did on screen (if the BTS footage of them dancing in between takes and being silly is anything to go by). They worked to make their connection convincing. I think they'd actually spent a while together before filming began too, but I'm not entirely sure on that. It aggravated me because when watching Isabel, when she and Fernando would fight, I would be yelling at my screen, begging one or both of them to talk to one another, and sort out what ever wedge was tearing them apart. With C and R's portrayals, I would roll my eyes and act like I was advising Katherine, telling her to seek an annulment or something, because he wouldn't listen to her, no matter what she said. 3) Like they did with Lizzie in TWP, they "girl bossed" Katherine. No one in their right mind would EVER step out into a fight when pregnant, let alone armored. Yes, Katherine was very much involved in the Battle of Flodden, but she was acting as REGENT, she wasn't out in the trenches, just under Henry's nose. 4) Katherine was THRILLED when she gave birth to Mary, to a baby who lived through infancy. She didn't try to distance herself from her daughter, she didn't scoff and walk away when someone begged her to hold her baby. Katherine was VERY MUCH INVOLVED with Mary's upbringing, and even when Mary had established her own house, she was in constant contact with Salisbury. They had an incredibly close relationship, and this is showcased in The Tudors. Katherine chasing Mary through the gardens, playing with her, reminding her of just who she was. 5) Personally, I think that they should have cast a group of Spanish actors and actresses, as I noticed that Charlotte's accent would break through every now and again. They also should have recast Katherine about midway into season two, as Charlotte doesn't make a very convincing late 30s woman. there is a whole host of other things that I found aggravating about the show, but I guess we can only ask for so much. Oh! Did you have the opportunity to see Becoming Elizabeth?

I wish one show would be fair to Anne Boleyn. Every one of these shows say Thomas Boleyn Earl of Wiltshire pushed her daughter on the King. In truth, Anne's uncle and father were already highly successful in the court and didn't need Anne's help. There is nothing said at the time to suggest this is true but its stated as fact now. As far as Anne’s relationship with Henry is concerned, Chapuys recorded in February 1533 Thomas Boleyn’s opposition to the marriage: “I must add that the said earl of Wiltshire has never declared himself up to this moment; on the contrary, he has hitherto, as the duke of Norfolk (Anne's uncle) has frequently told me, tried to dissuade the King rather than otherwise from the marriage.”

I am so sad for Catherine...but Mary is not the future of England. What is the future of England when it burned and tortured more than 300 people and killed children and pregnant women. And she lost in a war. Poor Mary, but she is also a killer. As for me, I don't like killers, whatever their circumstances.

What happened to Princess Mary Tudor and Catherine in the end of season 2? Did Princess Mary stay with her father or live with Catherine??Bc the letter that Catherine wrote at the end kinda threw me off. Like did she leave her daughter with her father so she left her a letter or did she write the letter to give it to her when she grows up because she most likely wouldn’t have understood why her mother left her father?? Also, 1. how did Princess Mary Tudor end up? Did she become queen of England? Or she become queen of Spain? Or did she become of both? What was her personality when she grew up? Was she fair and nice or mean and unfair? What did she do during her time? Was her reputation? How would you describe her when she grew up? 2. What did Catherine ended doing with her time away from the palace? How long did she live? 3. Did Catherine and Princess Mary live together? 4. What happened to Henry/Harry after Catherine left? Did he miss Catherine? 5. Who become king of England?

Princes Mary was forbidden to see her mother again , but when the affair of his father when Anne Boleyn happened she was 15 a think . In that time a princess was a “property of the monarch” and because Catherine was send away well they never meet again . After that princess Mary served at princess Elizabeth house , and was called lady Mary because she was no longer a legitimate child of the king. She did become Queen of England but after some years she died and was succeeded by her sister Elizabeth.

@terminologicalinexactitude
@terminologicalinexactitude 3 года назад
Not that it's worth arguing (because Philippa Gregory and most historical fiction is TRASH), but while Shakespeare was brilliant he himself didn't invent the term "wild goose chase". It's widely accepted that the term derives from a colloquialism referring to a horse racing game that predated the 1590's. Shakespeares written mention of it was only the first time it had been recorded in print (which is frankly unsurprising for the era). I just thought anyone perusing the comments deserved a clarification.

Really? Because most comments under videos on youtube are females. I think more likely somebody with high connections watched it and realized how bad season 2 was. Not just in terms of historical inaccuracy-but also how the main character treats others. Horribly. Female who thinks she only had value if she wins, if she beats man and even her own husband for her is enemy and she plots and lies behind his back throughout the season. For no reason really. She could just be nice and polite and a team player-but no she has to win on her own and she is downright rude to men and very entitled and arrogant when speaking with them. The character was supposed to be empowering and instead she is a misandrist. And I think that is why it got canceled.
