@@elaine1882correct, but it was not in "this day and age", it was a different age and world, 50 years ago, half a century. The world has seen many wars, the fall of the Berlin wall, the change in Russia, the Evolution and progress in communication and science. Another world entirely. I look back to the early seventies and don't recognize that world.
A very worthwhile Daily Mail Royal special! Mr. Robert Hardman is not only impressive as a historian and objective investigative narrator but his voice allows for easy listening. Thank you
I think these recent events within the RF, with the King and Princess of Wales’ illnesses, and now Sarah Ferguson’s newest health challenge, there is hopefully new clarity for the King on what is important. The nonsense that H & M get up to is meaningless compared to all that is happening at the moment.
I really like and respect the Princess Royal. I learned about her through a documentary on her 70th birthday. She is truly an essential part of the Monarchy. And I think she truly mourned her parents and is devoted to their memory.
I may have seen the same documentary. In it there are scenes in which she is carrying out various visits. One thing that struck me was how absolutely delighted and excited people were by her visits; same with the investitures.
I've met Princess Royal on several occasions. What an amazing person she is. Stands no nonsense, has a great sense of humour, takes her duties seriously. An absolute rock.
He wrote a really good book about Queen Elizabeth II too. No salacious gossip but accurate history from the her childhood through to must have been just before her passing. I’m reading it now and it’s very good!
The Princess Royal is the shield of the royal family. No one will ever pass by her if she doesn't want to. Determined, brave, loving, dependable, loyal, supportive, she has so many qualities! I admire Princess Anne so much! I can see the strength she has.❤
Wholeheartedly agree, the princess royal is the very epitome ot a truly self empowered woman, strange that MM didn't recognise that when the example was Infront of her Whilst she on the other hand only talks about It ....endlessly
I believe that Beatrice and Eugenie should be included as working Royals if they choose to do so. Zara didn’t get her mother’s drive to be a part of this at all with the exception of jumping horses.
I call it more than SAD with Harry treating his grandparents the way he did! I will never FORGET this! He’s as bad as what Meghan is, they deserve each other!
@user-hq9ob1zo6b William did it way before Harry and her. William made sure that Catherine had time, they were young. Harry and Megan were a lot older and Megan thought she could do anything abd change everything with out putting the time and work in. Didn't take long for her to realize she couldn't do it the way it needed to be done. The time wasn't put in at the beginning, before they became husband and wife. William was smart enough to figure that out at the start.
Princess Anne wasn't really even a spare and look how important she is to the monarchy. She doesn't let it bother her. She works hard and is a huge important part of everything Royal. Why couldn't Harry be the same. We know and I think he knows he could never handle being King. He is extremely work shy and hates press attention both of which works be expected. 😅
Anne grew up in the 50s and 60s. Different times. If your family are getting death threats, racist and negative attacks in the media, no support from your family, in fact Charles and Williams offices were feeding the gutter press with lies. Why would you stay. This was caused by the citizens of the UK. They forced him to leave to protect his family. They have no intention of ever going back.
Porque nunca lhe fizeram sentir Como tal, já o Harry até no Nascimento o pai o regeitou o facto de ser homem e ruivo, porque vocês nâo olhem o lado real das coisas?
The King seems much, much happier since Camilla joined his life. They seem perfectly suited to each other. I wish them long and healthy lives together.
Considering what we were allowed to know of Harry’s history, the RF is best served by letting him go entirely. Emancipate him from everything royal. Everything. He has a new family now.
@@user-tq9ej7zf5b You can’t take away his birthright, but in the scheme of things based on their actions it’s irrelevant. Most of the time if he’s not complaining he’s talking about his long dead mother. Everything is in the past and I think people worldwide see it for what it is.
Princess Anne is my favorite Royal! Her choice of wearing a huge red feather in her hat that obscured her pathetic ginger nephew’s pinched face in the row behind her, was absolutely glorious!
The feather is part of the uniform she wore, not something that was a ‘choice’. The uniform was not a ‘choice’ either. It was the uniform attached to the role she was appointed to.
She did not opt to wear the feather. She was told what uniform to use as Golden Stick, and her military uniform comes with that Plume for her rank. And she was also told to keep the hat on.
When you see the no fuss, no nonsense attitude of Anne, the Princess Royal, one can't help but admire her. I stiil remember the attempted kidnapping with gunfire and injury. If anyone had the right to demand extra security, it would be Anne but she doesn't bother. She just carries on as always❤❤❤
While I am no fan of the Harkles, it's not unusual for people to separate from their families and live elsewhere, as many of the BRF are already doing. In the case of Harry and Meghan, they did a runner, yet expected the benefits of being a royal and rejecting the responsibilities of a role in the BRF. Perhaps the reality of their situation is sinking in, as they are relegated to the back of the bus. Their bridges are all burned, so no way back for this demanding twosome. 😢
Agree. They blamed the 'firm' but conveniently over-looked that the firm was actually the late Queen and Prince Philip. H&M turned their backs on duty and service while clinging to their titles. They are determined to wring every penny out of the firm one way or other.
She, in.particular had such a large ego that she really thought that the American.public would treat her like Diana reimcarnated. Instead they abhored ber very common sense of self entitlement and non existant superiority. She was the same low class woman who left the US for the UK and brought back the rich prey that she had stalked. Now the very people who she was desperate to impress, see her for what she is and what she has always been. A very low class opportunist that most people now avoid as much as they can.
Yes, but it is not so usual to leave slamming the door and throwing your family and country fellowmen under the bus, slandering them. That's not so usual. And you are also right, they burnt every single bridge.
Well…with the words of the late Queen…..recollection may vary. Interesting to see how selective the memory is of the British public🤔. And how one is so readily, willingly and eager to believe all the nasty and hateful vomit the British rags are spouting about H and M. And most of you are following in that same nasty way of treating them, without any hesitation, like a mob filled full of hatred. One could also apply some critical thinking instead of gobbling up all this one sided hatefulness. The RF are just like us regular ppl with all their woes and sorrows but they live a very privileged life and have their own set of rules. You, the British public, THINK you know them but unless you are part of that family and are familiar with the inner workings of that family and the machinery behind that family, it’s all speculation and hear say, depending on where the ‘news’ comes from and from which house hold. I have a soft spot for your country, the RF and you Brits but this level of nastiness is very unbecoming to you and very off putting. Could H&M have done things differently? Perhaps. But we don’t know what difficulties and challenges they must have faced at the time, unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. To blame them for everything that has happened since then is very unfair. The familiy, or better yet the Firm as a whole, is in part also to blame for the creation of this very incredibly sad situation. Not only for the country but mostly for them as a beloved family. Let’s not forget that all the ‘players’ in this tragedy, including your precious PW, PK and KC, are part of this creation and all have flaws. It’s called being Human. Let’s try to do better and be better humans, start with yourself.
@@Ana_Ines3420 Sorry, not the country fellowmen. We all know the fallout was with their own family. Sorry but country fellowmen is not family, but I can understand how the country fellowmen felt shocked at PH leaving the RF.
@@laurencunningham8312 Do you live in reality. If you really believe a person that attacks and shows no loyalty to his family or country is a good leader that just sad and really deliousional.
Imagine the embarrassment, anger, and cringe when Archie and Lili read about their father putting Diana's cream on his todger. Harry needs to stop blaming his father and start thinking about his own children.
@@wyzolma99the children do exist. If we accuse H&M that the children do not exist, then we are also accusing the Royal Family of being complicit in the fraud. I doubt the late Queen or King Charles would go along with such a terrible lie.
The kidnapping incident, in which 4 men were shot, when Princess Anne was only 23 years old. Tells you all you need to know, about this remarkable woman!
@@nadinewhite993 I agree. We mustn't drag the children into this. I am no fan of Harry and the wife, but for people to say the children or Harry's wife's pregnancies were fake is to accuse the Royal Family of being complicit in a fraud. Just saying...
Its good that the king and the senior members of the RF are finally relating to the public and finally realising that harry is truly beyond redemption.
I like how Mr. Hartman speaks about these topics. I was somewhat leery about his book. But if his book is like he is in this video, it will be a pleasure experience to read.
I do feel for any parent being emotionally blackmailed by adult children using their grandchildren as weapons. It's a particularly cruel game to play. Add this to the awful insults and aggravation to the late Queen and Prince Phillip as they were literally dying. That's a wound so deep it will likely never heal even if ammends are made.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't think Diana would have been that great of a Queen. She loved the limelight and would have always been competing, never allowing the King to shine. Camilla is the perfect spouse and a great Queen. She lets the King shine without being a drudge.❤❤
You may have a point. But I think Diana genuinely loved reaching out to people. However I agree that she may not have been Queen material, but would have been a great grandmother and still enjoyed being a Queen of people's hearts doing her charities etc. She herself actually said in that last televised interview she did on TV that she did not think she could ever be Queen, but wanted to be a Queen of people's hearts, when the interviewer asked her if she could see herself as Queen one day. So she would have agreed with you maybe. She was a free soul, that needed to be free. Nothing wrong with that. May Diana be at heavenly peace.🙏💖
Finally, a very down to earth, honest very real assessment of the entire situation. THANK YOU! Let your comment reach all forms of news outlets! It's about time...
How will Harry and Meghan feel, when their children grow up and realise what their parents have done to them. Will the children disown them, as Harry and Meghan did, to their parents?
Now I really admire Anne, but I thought the hug story was callous of Anne. Did it ever occur to Anne that the staff member might have needed comforting. Instead, the grieving staff member got a brusque " Well, that's never going to happen again". Ugh. The poor staff member must have been so embarrassed.
@@CraftyZanTub So, you personally know that all Americans like their humor scatty and slapstick? Yeah, we rootin' , tootin', primitive, un- eddicated Western folk like nothin' better than to see a guy fall into a spittoon. Sorry to disrupt your grand generalization but I had a very polite conversation with a lady who disagreed with me. After listening to her, I then agreed with her. Which was " you had to be there", indicating there was probably more context. She was right and I was wrong. She was very polite. As was I.
I must admit I didn’t like Camilla at all, adultery does cause injury. But I admire how she works diligently for the UK. She certainly has made the King more confident. And Princess Royal Anne! She is so incredibly important!
@@plw7930Are you still hanging on to a 20 year old perceived injury? Give it a rest. Charles and Camilla have been happily and faithfully married all this time, and both work tirelessly on behalf of the Monarchy. How about some forgiveness and respect for them? No one is perfect.
Thank you Robert Hardman! Great, informative interview. I love and respect Queen Camilla, the Princess Royal Anne, Princess Catherine, and the Duchess Sophie. Strong, resilient women that are also kind and true individuals. The women in the RF really shine.
Well looking on the positive side, Prince William was born, and we are lucky to have him as the next future King as well as the lovely Princess Catherine and their gorgeous children. Maybe it was just meant to be. I just wish that Princess Diana had not been killed so that her grand children could have known her etc.
No one prevented them from marrying. She didn’t want to wait for Charles to do his military service. She chose to marry another man whom she loved and had children.
And I would add to that they did it deliberately …they were scheming within the first six months of being together how to take down the monarchy …how to inflict tremendous pain and phony racism. Claims …they are shameful.
American here. I happen to be grateful H&M are not in the UK. Seems there is no end to the unnatural rage against them. I know the British are our friends and allies. But as human to human it’s very sad that the UK media and media supporters and the Royals dislike PH. It irks me that his father and brother loathe him.
@@user-rz3qe7ix8l You say they disrespected QE2, but I disagree. Just because I don’t agree with you does not mean I don’t respect the elderly. Glad you respect them too. The only sign I saw that may have been seen as M disrespected the QE2 was the curtsie. And she paid for it dearly. I’m not the type to be angry and holding grudges at my family members. So I have moved on from M doing that and stop riding the unforgivable train. By the way, I think the percentage is higher on Americans respecting their grandparents.
A very dapper, handsome Englishman you are… your haircut, your eyeglasses, your impeccable suit, tie, etc. the personification of such tastefulness in the beautiful country of England…. & to add to that intelligence, a calming, charming personality, filled with intelligence ….thank you so much for representing the monarchy the way it should be represented
Prince Charles as become a fantastic king 👑. He as brought the people together and we are all proud of him and Camilla. She is doing a great job. Princess Royal princess Anne is such a hard working royalist. Best wishes and speedy recovery to princess Catherine of Wales. Try not to worry to much prince William, chin chin to you and the children. Queen Camilla and king Charles must be in a bit worried. We all support you. Now for Fergie, really hope your treatment works for you. The majority of people still support you. Finally for the traitors, your disgusting and dirt under my shoe. You will never ever be liked again. You can't be trusted as your both liars
PH loves his family. I would tell him to stay away from them because they have shown themselves to deeply dislike PH. As family goes it’s always better to forgive and move on, but because this is not the case with the RF just better to love from a distance.
As a parent, I imagine Charles is disappointed with his younger son's choices. I also imagine Charles is pragmatic enough to set that feeling aside and get on with things.
Unfortunately his parents considered her unsuitable, hence his possible seemingly loveless marriage?. There is a big difference between someone writing a largely speculative book about the family, and a member treacherously and openly trying to destroy his family albeit bought about by the misguided actions of a proven lying narcissist.
Sorry, I don't sense that King Charles is moping about because of Harry. I think King Charles has his mind on his responsibilities, is enjoying very much being King, and like other parents, wishes Harry well and wishes he eventually finds a real purpose to his life, too. Harry's the one who is sad, bitter, and angry at the world and has been for decades.
He may make changes in time. They don’t do this quickly. they take their time which seems to work. After all the institution has been around for a long time…

Agreed. Grown capable men (KC&A) that should do the right thing for the UK, but do not always do because they are bit self-centered. Outside of self the best decisions are made.
He's an educated intelligent mature man with an educated intelligent mature wife, the joys of healthy children, has the close support of his father, and the extraordinary fortune of living as a wealthy privileged and powerful individual. He's doing just fine.
I respectfully suggest that the author in this interview once again made serious suggestions about the Prince of Wales and both he and the mysterious source of Prince William’s views on faith and whether he would in fact defend it knew full well that this would cause a backlash especially in traditional royalists . Why do it without even speaking to him or his office first ?
@@nancymoore1240 My point is , is it true though? Kensington palace said the Prince doesn’t know where this is coming from as the discussion has never come up . He in my view is not a man to discuss these things easily and he knows only to well how palace walls have ears . In my personal view it derogatory and I question the motive behind its inclusion in a book that seems to talk up every other member of the R F except of course his brother .
@@deborah85728 I totally agree with you. Someone in the opposing court is white-anting WIlliam who is not as egocentric as some in the RF who may make a public show of their 'Deep Spirituality' and church attendance. Surely we've moved past counting visits to church as a sign of anything other than an hour to spare on a Sunday. William seems a deep thinker and a kind person who wishes to do good in the world and works for better outcomes for many. I count that as much more important. I doubt Charles really wants the public to start discussing Christian values in a man which may open that can of worms dating back to the 1980's and 1990's when Camilla was his mistress (despite their both being married) and he mocked his poor very young wife who he had taken on as a convenient vessel to produce the heirs to the throne. Shame on him.
By his behaviour alone , William has shown himself to be a far better Christian than Charles. It isn’t what we say but how we live our lives. Hardman is Charles’s mouth piece.
Good for William. He's smart enough to know the whole church system has nothing to do with ones faith. I applaud him for being the first to publicly break the religious farce. By their fruits you will know them. So far he appears to have a lot of good fruit. A good heart. ❤
My father was not at all a religious man . But he was the most morally ethical person I've ever met. You don't have to go to church all the time and perform lots of rituals to be a moral and ethical person . I'm afraid the religious fanatics will turn on him if he doesn't want to be the Holy Roman Emperor of the Anglican Church. If they don't want the honest and trustworthy William, who is not into churchly things, they can always have Hawwy or, better yet, Andy. Andy could really pull off a great fake churchly interest . Whereas Hawwy can't pull his nose out of his navel. Just let William be William. He's done a great job so far
@@sandraaustin1449 Actually the sooner the whole religious false church system is destroyed the sooner the true gospel will begin to spread like a mustard seed that grows into a giant tree that will fill the earth. Whether William believes in the one true God or not, God uses kings to fulfill his ultimate plan. That plan is to end ALL man made false religions.
Meghan hit the ground running alright! She ran all the way to California after a VERY expensive wedding complete with white dress and veil (shameless woman!). Should have know she was a wrong-un. No family except her mom, dad with a heart attack... she invited people she hadn't met!
I watched the coronation on the royal family’s own channel, and used the coronation lethargy The Arch Bishop put up on the website. I only saw King Charles, Prince William, and the Archbishop of Canterbury ,and his entourage during the coronation. Looking at the peers and aristocracy, is for Royal Weddings only. Coronation p.s. are traditional, historical and personal.
I had mixed feelings about Charles as king. However, as of now, I think he’s doing a great job. I feel for him in the situation he’s in with his problematic, younger son to put it mildly. In my opinion, he would do well to cut him off, totally until he comes to his senses which he may never or but at this point Harry ,he’s damaging monarchy . If he lets Harry continue he will look weak.
I think Charles is a good king but William will be a great king, he is like the late queen. From his experiences of lessons from his grandparents, his parents marriage, his awareness, seeing other people's situation, his wife support, and he is smart. I think he is cool but take no nonsense, don't like bs, like late Queen Elizabeth, he will be great.
I sense WIlliam brings a lot less ego to the job of being a royal than Charles has ever done. He's a decent man and that's a very good start to being a good King.
To be honest every family has that one relative we all avoid, even royalty, who unfortunately have Harry. As for making royalty more open & accessible, I for one wouldn’t want to see them turned into a reality show.
Harry did what he wanted and that was listen to Megan because she made it seem like she was holywood royalty and she's not,. He picked the wrong girl to marry. I bet he's sorry now.. I just hope they don't let him back into the monarchyt
Shaking my head. KC making it clear he loathes his son. Chilling. What normal father hates his son for calling him out in a book for something he did do? The right reaction KC should have had was one of love, humility, forgiveness to his son because PH did not lie. No but this daddy dearest doubled down to appease the heir. Sad stuff. The result of KC not giving the right response of a loving father our more books, interviews and doing things that regular people do that will mortify KC. But why would KC be mortified if he keeps driving PH away. Real people like us have families and have issues from time to time but we usually work it out. The Royals are no different, but KC insists he is different and breaks down his own son.
Leave Prince Harry alone. If the rest of the Royals are so perfect, praise them! Prince Harry is free to choose to live his life as he pleases. It’s none of your business how he lives & who he choose to live it with. Apparently, the British media or the monarchy can’t exist without talking negatively about Prince Harry 24/7. He is not asking anyone for anything & that’s the problem. He is doing well & the haters can’t stand. The hate you spread about Prince Harry may find its way in your lives. Be ware.
Every guy face what the king is facing and that is good he is telling what is happening. Catherine is younger and has had some more issues with her insides and she needs to keep her medical from worrying them.
A bizarre and weak question: “What else could Charles do?” Charles could have denied Harry’s children from their titles; removed them from the Family emphatically; and issued a statement they don’t represent the Nation. He can cut off all funding to them & encourage other Royal Families to disinvite them. I think he also has the authority to remove the prince’s HRH and title of prince. Charles can sign any document a Parliament issues to remove the ducal title. Charles is exhibiting a lack of leadership and a spine. His weakness emboldens Harry and Markle. So, he (Charles) “gets what he gets.”
Excellent commentary with Mr Hardman. His voice is very pleasant to listen to. He makes excellent points. Overall, very good interview. Thank you, sir.
Actually, I think Prince William is CORRECT in refusing the title of head of the church. There is and always has been or ever will be ONE Head of the church and that is Jesus, Himself, Who DIED for His church.
The Church of England is a construct of KIng Henry VIII who instigated its existence for his own purposes. The British monarch is historically known as Defender of the Faith (the 'faith' being the C of E) from that time.
Princess Anne never falters in her understanding , plans and preparation for whatever event. She's intelligent prepared for anything.. gutterly amazing. Take my hat off to her off to her. She helps with eerything, to keep all onthe wheels..., 👏 smooth & in control . She's so Competant & clever. And just herself always.
Did this author actually ever take the time to actually speak to the new Prince of Wales and if not where did he get his information from when writing about him . The Kings office perhaps ? It is reported that Prince William doesn’t know where the statement that he would not necessarily be defender of the faith comes from as he has never ever discussed it . 5
What a terrible thing to say as no one would say that of any of their family members or friends. Sounds criminal. Why don’t you just ignore him and move on. This is the healthiest thing to do when you deeply dislike someone. Read the Bible. It’s filled with the light of the world to help guide your dark words about Prince Harry.

William, like many others in Britain, thinks CofE stands for Christmas and Easter. It's not really enough to attend church just twice a year. Churches will close sadly.
The Royal Family need support against The Montecito duo’s spitefulness . Suppress their so called titled celebrity status in the hardest hitting way possible . Rally round ,it’s needed badly for their healths sake.
The King is right in his judgment to prevent Harry's return to the monarchy. The work which is part of the royal world-wide relationships does not support the mental illness that Harry has and is not using wise decisions in his demands and arrogance. (Neither is effective in good business procedures. ) The Firm functions very well without Harry's presence or contributions. (The level of behavior that Harry conducts himself on is a strong display of poor judgment and action. It is more indicative of mental illness than anything else.)
Fascinating that Gyles Brandreth book, ‘Queen: an intimate portrait’ writes QE2 was okay with Lilibet name being used. Robert’s source, a palace source, is contradicting Gyle’s source, QE2 and PP. Very shady. I can only surmise one of these two is fibbing.
