Hey guys. So I finally got round to making a video on my custom KC Jag. This is part one where I go over the build and ordering process. I also created a cool intro for the two ‘episodes’. In the second part I will demo the guitar and show all the tonal possibilities. Like and sub if you haven’t already! Thanks :)

First off, I'd want to say I'm blown away on how beautiful that custom KC Jag looks like !! Yet again, what a great idea to have as a project ! Makes me think about getting an order from MJT too cause the Fender produced KC Jag costs about 1,5 grand at the market which is quite hefty to say the least and their not often to come by as well- if it's not a secret would you mind telling how much this project costed you? Aside from that, love the homage you did for Kurt and Grunge in the beginning. Actually the whole intro was perfectly done and edited, loved the footage about Kurt from which I reckon was the 1991 The Year Punk Broke excerpts from Rotterdam. It went extremely well with In Bloom cranked up loud I was rocking out in my room haha it really kicked ass! :D Great editing work! Also interesting filters added to pictures which give them a cool unique look. Keep at it! :) That guitar is my dream to own one day- it's so iconic , it's amazing that you have a piece in your room that looks like it's exactly from 91'. Love the relic scratches you did, not the 2015 NOS version which is without the scratches I mean the Fender produced KC Jag is great too but there's just something about the scratches and cracks of Kurt's Jag replica. Really makes you wonder like you own his exact guitar for a moment. A must have for any die hard Nirvana fan! Fender only had these on their 2011 version. Also, love the red line on the paint job and that the sunburst is less faded. I think you've never owned a guitar before with a vibrato tail before have you? and you have the vintage humbuckers, really cool stuff! I think MJT did a fantastic job with this and you're a lucky owner of one of these, endless tonal possibilities. I can't wait to watch your next part of the series. Truly awesome work!

Hey Karl, thanks so much! I put a lot of effort into this video so I’m glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately the cost of the project was fairly high and exceeded the cost of the brand new Fender version of the Jaguar, mainly due to the labour costs associated with building a guitar from scratch. I’m lucky I saved up so much for it as you will always need more than you think with these kinds of projects. Really best left to the pros. It certainly is great owning a replica, I’ll be using it a lot in future videos for sure. The pickups sound great too. It’s not my first guitar with a teen, my old Jaguar has one and so does my Mustang and strat. I don’t use the vibrato very often so it’s not that big of a deal to me. Thanks again for the comment

@@wastewoodrockers5526 Your efforts won't go without notice! Ahh ok, correct usually with projects like these they can get quite expensive but well worth it in the end. As one professional musician once put it that music is an expensive 'Hobby' to have but it all returns back to you in the end and even more so with all the gifts that music gives to us and others around listening! Yeah, let the professionals do their work and guaranteed money goes in the right place whereas doing it DIY can get even more expensive for a beginner builder! I've still had the thought (probably you too I assume) to build a guitar by myself one day from scratch and with no/or as little help as possible. :) That'd be cool! Enjoy! Can't wait to see the custom MJT KC Jag of yours again.

@@karlm9302 That’s a great way to think about things, the cost means nothing if people get enjoyment out of your music! I’ve always wanted to build my own style of guitar. I love customising and messing about with them to see if I can come up with new ideas or improvements to make them unique. I wish you the best of luck if you decide to go ahead with it. Professional help is always good when you need it, but a bit of DIY is always a more fun way of approaching things.

@@wastewoodrockers5526 Absolutely! Keep at it, love doing that as well though haven't really made it as much of a priority other than changing some strings and what not but I should definitely get more into it! I just have so many ideas with guitar playing/and music in general that I like to specify on one goal at a time and then go from there it's easier this way whereas the other option you'll be doing different things every single day and may not progress as fast when you have a single goal that you want to reach! (let's say even better if for a limited time just to make you kick yourself in the ass at times) you have to be your own coach/tutor as far as I'm concerned! Something I've tried to do at least to the best of my possibilities. You might get distracted at times but that's part of the journey I guess! The less wandering off the road the better though Thank you!! I will definitely at some point. Agreed, but DIY is more suggestible with not a big budget imo as with anything in life the first times usually 'go behind the fence' lol.

Hi, I posted recently on LN forum many pics comparing Kurt's guitar with the road worn to show the differences, you might find interesting. The neck didn't had two string tress, the tuners were changed to Gotoh in 92 and the headstock shape isn't exactly like a strat. There's a rumor in a jagstang topic in offset guitars forum that the radius was closer to 12,5, as neck probably was custom made. If your budget allows, you should look at Spitfire guards, it's the closest thing to the vintage stuff. Overall nice project, I hope you you paid less than the Road worn inflated prices!
@wastewoodrockers5526
@wastewoodrockers5526 3 года назад
That’s awesome man, can you link the pics? I’d love to check them out! I was looking at Spitfire pickguard and they were far too pricey for my budget, I think the one on my Jag (got it from eBay) was a good enough stand in even if it’s not entirely accurate. Kurts Jag had a bogus neck, the headstock isn’t any normal size, I noticed that. It’s sort of in between the large and small size. Tuners were vintage style until around Feb 1992 when they were replaced with modern style ones. The bridge on his Jag also isn’t the same as the one Fender used.

@@wastewoodrockers5526 They're in a thread Fender releasing KC guitar or something similar. The forum isn't open, but you can register there, it's free and you'll probably find more interesting things there. The body shape is also slight different, the japanese body close marches it. Montreux makes nice torts too, but still a little expensive. I think there was an UK seller on eBay with some chinese celluloid and he had some red tortoise patterns (more than usually seen). If I find it I'll post here. Good thing is that you can always upgrade you guitar later if you want to.
