Alla Sizova was one of the most beautiful dancers and a very kind, humble person.

Great. Thank you. Back in the day the then Kirov and Bolshoi made it to Australia fairly regularly: Sizova, Soloviev, Plisetskaya and pre-defection Baryshnikov, along with many other great dancers toured..not least N. Pavlova. But, so wonderful to watch this performance. Thank you!

I can see now how Rudolf Nureyev recreated some of this staging for his production of The Sleeping Beauty for the National Ballet of Canada in 1972. And this is the first time I've ever seen Carabosse dance on pointe!

Very significant: A very young and lovely Makarova dancing Bluebird. Six years later she would defect to the west. The sublime Yuri Soloviev died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in 1977.

THank you for sharing. This is the Tour de Force performance from the Sergeyev Kirov. Sadly, we cannot see this perfection these days. Especially opening fairies become messy. Minchenok, Korneev, Kovaleva, Fedicheva, Sakhnovskaya, everyone deserves special mention.

The dancing in this is sublime, but the filmmaking is also really great! Shot composition, editing, lighting, camera movement-all consistently interesting without detracting from the dancers. Check out the sequence at 1:07:14 !!! Also young Makarova at 1:15:48

@IrinaIrina-bi2tc
@IrinaIrina-bi2tc Месяц назад
@strangenoise-mt2zf
