So, I'm not that knowledgeable about Polo, but as an outsider looking in, the abusive treatment of the horse is overwhelming and abusive. #1- The puncturing of the spurs #2- The use of whips #3- Inevitable high pressured hitting to the horse from the balls and sometimes from paddle or bat(whatever its called thats used to hit the ball). That's gotta hurt!! #4- The high speed stopping, starting, jerking from the reins, basically all the forced maneuvers seem unnatural and uncomfortable for a horse #5- I'm sure horses clash with one another which probably hurts them as well. I could be wrong but IMO, it's abusive...and sad.
