Nice one! I'm planning to retire (12 years early) in a few months, sell my paid off house and live as I please. I want more maneuverability so I'm going for a camper for my 4wd pickup rather than something larger.

Check out the Winnebago Revel and the Boldt. I went with the Revel since it's 4 seasons, 4x4, has solar panels, induction stove top, Espar heater, cassette toilet, can function off-grid, and much more. Also, check out great resources, if you haven't done so already, such as the F.I.R.E. (Financial Independence Retire Early) movement along with 'Quit Like A Millionaire: No Gimmicks, Luck, or Trust Fund Required' by Kristy Shen and "The Simple Path to Wealth: Your road map to financial independence and a rich, free life" by JL Collins. Good luck on your journey :)

Workamping.. it's just another name for being an overtaxed baby boomer. Boomers where overcharge for everything and taxed to death and now we're paying the price, of homelessness. This is the real problem.. can't afford to own a home with NO savings.

The actual work is manual physical labor. Who the heck wants to involuntarily do that when youre in your 50's or 60s for 8 plus hours/day? These people have rose colored glasses on in light of the fact they failed to save for retirement. My guess is they have monthly payments on the camper and vehicles and the repo companies can't find them because they are moving... Not a bad a bad strategy... But, it would of been so much easier to just put aside 10% in your 401k during your working years...

Dream on u will not find a rainbow in your actual and so carefully calculated retirement but more importantly they are living now and every day is more valuable then the routine life of domestic man.

Raising a family and doing the American Dream thing is a farce. Boomers were overcharged and now are paying for it dearly.. it's part of the plan to rip off the working class.

Boring, lots of obvious advice.
