More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
@PhilipDunk
@PhilipDunk 25 дней назад
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. enjoyed this interview . Someone said that it's time to be concerned when you start to see individuals shoplifting groceries rather than big-screen televisions, and i agree. Truth is, inflation will never reach 2% ever again, maybe in the next life, but not this one. Anyone purchasing groceries and gasoline is aware that real inflation is much over 10%; they simply lie about it like cheap blankets. In reality, interest rates would be in the 20s because of how high inflation is. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

I totally agree, it's been three years and counting, and I've made over 1.7 million by simply following a coach's advice. I was on the sidelines for a while watching, trying to determine the best time to get in, before I came across a coach, recommended by my wife. I was reluctant at first but I went ahead and contacted the coach. As a small reward for my consistency, I went on a trip to the Bahamas in the late summer. haha

The markets have only done well since 2008 because of higher Government debt and unsustainable money printing. This cannot continue as debt levels are already too high to allow any significant reduction in interest rates. This cannot be solved by increased taxation and the only answer is that Government spending has to be reduced.
@michaeloconnor6683

We have to rout out a lot of bad actors. Also Americans need to give up their delusions and hubris. Perhaps these bad times will help clear those from people's heads. There is going to be a real bloodbath because of these influx of illegal immigrants. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when we can't take care of the native population and are giving everything to the illegals, the native population is going to massacre a lot of the illegals and maybe people they believe are responsible for the situation. We have such a f*cked up deluded society. Treating any job that is not in vogue as not worth paying for, dismissing the middle class. We need mechanics, nurses, garbage men, construction workers, handymen, retail employees, restaurant workers and farmers more than we need CEOs and middle management and "diversity" advisors. People in the military also constitute the middle class. Police men. We treat a lot of these people as if they are not worth paying, and who cares about them and the middle class, good riddance say every one in the top 5%. This is unsustainable, you can't run a society or a civilization on delusion and hubris.

In 2008 people got wiped out fast. Since then everyone's been getting wiped out slowly. Same results both ways.

if the CPI is 5% then inflation is 7% so your treasuries after tax are 4% which is -3% real return, NOT GREAT!

No one in northern CA will ever build a custom house. In Silicon Valley the permit process alone takes years. I built a 3000' ft house in silicon valley in 1974 for 20 dollars a sq ft . today it is 750 I got the permit in 2 weeks today it may take 3 years

11:25 Ted needs to check his bond math. On a 20 year zero coupon, a 25 bps move will be a gain of 5% in the bond price. A 100 bps move will be a 21% gain. On a 30 year a 25 bps and a 100 bps will be over 7% and 33% respectively. If the Fed drops 300 bps say in a recession,... then the 20 year increase 79% and the 30 year 138%. And in the meantime,.. waiting on the recession, the bonds should appreciate by 4.5 to 5% per year. The only risk is if the Fed raises rates or the bond vigilantes come out and say enough of the government stealing from tax payers and deficit spending like vote buying drunken sailors.

Fed fund rate going down does not mean the 10 year rate has to follow. In fact, I would expect the first 150 basis points to simply rectify the currently inverted yield curve to a more sustainable term premia for banks to survive.
