I don’t think it’s just the one less roommate though, we also all pitched in to buy a bunch of flowers for the roommate that passed. Now I’m thinking they might die before the funeral (the flowers not the roommate killed)we bought them too early. This has been the worst 48 hours ever. Anyhow, to answer your question, 6 roommates or 5 roommates & some petty theft, nothing too crazy but this is the minimum. Rubio's was already struggling before the minimum wage increase and they just wanted a convenient bad guy to blame. The truth is that they are mismanaged. Their food cost 2 times the equivalent from smaller chains, service went to crap due to prioritizing food delivery, and it is not as good as it used to be. Restaurant hiring actually went up (not down) after the increase and the truth is that labor cost are a small component of costs. Most other restaurants are doing okay but Rubio's put itself out of business.

High school kids 14-18yrs old dominated the workforce at those with maybe 1-2 adults supervising. I have rarely seen kids working at fast food joints or grocery stores. In fact I rarely see kids working anywhere at the ratio I remember. I can’t even remember the last time I’ve seen a teen working a drive thru. Why? Are they not applying or not being hired? I would say 2/3 would be 14-21. Majority stuck around for a year or two at most and then found another job, went back to school etc. Now, not even 20 years later when I walk into a grocery store I would say only about 30% of the staff would be teenagers or those in their early twenties. Majority are middle aged adults........ How did this change so fast? When I started there I knew I would not be there for that long and that was fine... All just a stepping stone for young people... I wonder what kind of jobs young people are taking on these days, or are they just not working at all?

California doesn’t have that minimum wage thing where servers get half pay or less because of tips. I know most states do but people need to learn basic facts because I am so tired of the oh poor minimum wage workers when tipped workers are making $16.00 an hour and fast food workers are making $20.00 I know the economy is bad, it’s always been a cycle and gone good and bad. I made 4.25 minimum wage when I was a server in California. You know what I did when we had that terrible 2008 economic crisis? Picked up more shifts, worked night shifts and learned to bar tend. Worked overtime as much as I could. Not saying things aren’t horrible but there are cycles where sometimes you gotta work your butt off until it gets better. Vote better, get these clowns outta office please 🙏 I’ll be praying everyone’s situation gets better, I’ll be voting with the best knowledge I have, and I’ll be working hard in the meantime.

Rubios has been failing for a while this just sped up the process. Remember minimum wage workers in California are working 2 to 3 jobs to make it. Raising the minimum wage lets them quit one of them therefore the jobs eliminated are not needed anymore. Go to any big city in California there are help wanted signs in almost every fast food restaurant

@@jaamall You are missing the fact that the fast food minimum wage of $20 per hour is an arbitrary figure that was imposed by the government and not a market driven equilibrium level. The government chose to step in and arbitrarily mandate a $20 per hour wage for a specific industry in order to pander for votes without regard for the downstream effect, which will end up eliminating the jobs for the people to whom the governor was trying to pander. This is what happens when you govern based on “feelings”, with no grasp whatsoever on the laws of economics.

I was walking around Santa Monica and the only stores were left open are liquor stores, restaurants and big name brands. The rest is allll closed, up for a lease. I’m thinking this 20$ per hour is gonna take away a lot of those restaurants. At least whatever is left. So sad seeing our leaders target business and choke the living air out of them.

After Bidens inflation and dems raising taxes minimum wage does need raised to balance the economy out. Issue is they rause taxes and inflation a bit higher than minimum wage each time over a long time period so the gap of having a liveable income gets further away each time. The worst is that most jobs aren't minimum wage in areas like construction. Guys getting paid 25/hr when minimum wage was 10/hr will still be making 25/hr when minimum wage is 20/hr making it better to just work for big biz than for small biz. A slow process of weeding out the middle class. Who will roof for 25 when they can do simple work in an air-conditioned building for 20.

Adam doesn’t understand how economics works. Raising the minimum wage is basically a flat tax on businesses. Taxes trickle down from businesses to consumers through higher prices, reduction in quality and/or quantity, and reduction in worker benefits or hours, or outright removing positions entirely. Minimum wage increases to match this arbitrary concept of a “living wage” only makes the cost of living increase.

But you never know if they are going g to spit in your food if you don’t tip! I was in Europe last couple of weeks and tipping is not mandatory and you top a small amt. not based on the total amount of your bill! The wages are higher .. I think about 55k-60K Euros a year. The cons are is that service sucks are people don’t top and the servers are well paid! We need to find a middle ground! All My oaks laugh at Americas tipping system including Canada!
