The day of training 4th of June 1955 my father was born. He just passed away last day of March 2024. He had something with trains though, not cars just as I. I do live only a few km from the circuit now. The old railway line 44 is a nice bike path that takes you right by the grandstand of the circuit. The circuit is of course much smaller now, the long 'masta' straight is now downgraded to a local road of only 50 km/h hahahha
I wish people would realise how dangerous it was before spouting off about GOAT this and GOAT that. Hamilton, Verstappen, Russell, Alonso, Sainz ,Norris etc wouldn't even try to do this....
8:51 "Bono, I'm being held up by an ice cream van!!" 12:55 "AND IT'S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO!!!" "Pardonnez-moi, monsieur Crofty, but there are no lights..." "Ah right - AND IT'S LOUD-HAILERS OUT AND AWAY WE GO!!!"
No rubbing is racing back then. Go off and it won’t be pretty. Jean Behra died in a crash in 59. No seatbelts, no rollbars, no fuel cells, tube tires, and drum brakes. But that’s all they knew then. F1 had just started in 1950.
Behra was lucky to survive his accident in the 1952 PanAmericana. He was leading the race in the Gordini. If you can find a photo of the aftermath it may shock you.
People seem to gather poorly, instead fo having a good day of rest. Maurice Trintignant had a very good day, one lap behind every one. He made a special race, just for the fun. But the average guy was very angry at him, strangely. Yep, these people are disgusting ! Let them leave this place forever.
