Got the Wyeth-Scott three ton blue cable for recovery and I'm not even worried one bit about using it for that purpose. Even though I haven't needed it yet.
Everyone in the oil and gas business in Ohio and west Virginia used these pullers since the 1930's. I have stopped in to Wyeth Scott to get springs and other parts. Great company to deal with.
Victor, great products great people. I agree the folks at Wyeth Scott are awesome to deal with. Appreciate you sharing! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I have had mine for several years. You see these things being used by major bridge contractors. The blue line is the way to go. Once again you are cool with the tools.
Mark, glad you enjoyed the video. This tool is a beast, I have some major project coming up I’ll be putting it to the test. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Ive had the 2 ton version for many years. I love it. I use it regularly for dragging big logs. It's a little slow but it's a great tool. I will probably get the 3 ton version because I recently backed my f250 into a hole. The rear wheels were in the air and the truck was sitting on the frame. The two ton version wasn't strong enough to pull it out. I've got a crew cab with an 8' bed loaded with carpentry tools an its a very heavy pickup. The three ton may not have been enough, I don't know.
I bought one that appears to be this brand. Got it in 1969 for $25. I still have it. Haven't used it in years upgraded to a winch. It was used a lot when I had me farm. There were places I could not get to with my winch when I needed to pull a tree from a path. The farm was hard work but enjoyed every minute of it. Health issues and the wife caused me to move to town.
Jackie sorry to hear health issues caused you to stop doing what you love. Boy you got a great deal on the winch! This tool is definitely a beast and performs extremely well. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
The paint chips? Oh dear. Funny, paint chips have never bothered me while I'm dragging the winch and its rigging through the swamp. Absolutely love it.
Ha ha my sentiments exactly! This tool is made to do some rough work and is bound to get dropped, scratched and tossed in the back of a pickup. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I have had this Wyeth-Scott Winch for more than a decade. It has been the best tool for getting my truck out of gullies ever. I have also moved downed trees with it and much more. Strong, flexible, an all round perfect tool. A must if you live in the outback or visit it often.
I've done a lot with the cheap come a longs, albeit with some frustrating issues like a short handle, short cable length, clunky operation and a lot of extra straps and shackles. This tool solves all of those problems. Definitely a good buy that will serve its purpose a long time
Allen, I agree with all the issues you have pointed out. If you only use a come-along ounce every two years this winch might not be for you. But if you want a quality well built winch The More Powwer Puller is the tool to own. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I've been on the fence about buying one of these for over a year. After your review I think it's time to pull the plug and order one. If it saves me one wrecker call to pull out a stuck vehicle or tractor it would pay for itself. Thanks Tony.
I've had one of these for 6 or 8 years and love it. I mostly use it for pulling hung up trees down while cutting firewood. Very good and accurate review. I do have two additional comments. The blue cable is absolutely fantastic to work with the only downside is that it is not anywhere near as abrasion resistant as steel cable so you have to be careful with it. You don't want to drag it across the ground or have it rub up against a tree or a rock when you're pulling. It's really well-made and with the exception of the cable should last literally Generations. if you ever did need a part they sell all the parts for any winch they've made for the last 50 years. Not only that but I noticed that the price of the parts are very reasonably priced. These are light years ahead of the stamped steel cheap come alongs. I bought mine after bending breaking or wearing out three cheaper come alongs.
I have the 3 ton model. It is very well built and of high quality. It is very useful for removing hung up trees when they can’t be reached with a tractor or other means.
Hey there ol' son!! You've been MIA for awhile. Good to see you back. Stay healthy! Once doctors start taking notice of you, they'll conspire with family, nurses, and specialists to shanghai you into the hospital! If you run out of tools, just give us a shout out every once in a while so that we know you haven't run off to Hollywood!
Ha ha, I had posted in Late Dec I was going to 1 video every other week because I will be traveling and have some big projects I need to get done. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍TCT
12K pound pull is awesome. I imagine this tool pulling from one side and some pushing from the other side with a tractor or skid loader and pulling stumps for land clearing would be very doable. Good review, Tony. Thx.
Awesome review Tony. I appreciate your help at Bunyon on the tomahawk bucket. I'm ordering a mulch bucket and going to pick it up on the way to the Hoosier Firewood Hysteria. Thanks again
Bill, The More Power Puller is definitely a tool you want to have in your arsenal especially if you’re a one man operation. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
fantastic! Ive dreamed about such a winch. I was 38 yrs a fireman, trained in rescue ops. I want one! Our winches weren't as good. Ours were cable. Rope is superior. Frame of finger eating stamped steel.
Steve, you can’t go wrong with The More Power Puller. It’s a beast of a tool that will last a lifetime or two. There are So many applications for this tool. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I have a couple masdam pullers and a lug all. I use the masdam with pulleys or mechanical advantage all the time. The lug all comes out once in a great while but the length of pull is the real short fall. The 35 ft pull on one of these means I’m gunna add one of these as an option.
Tony, I just found your channel and I love how clear and concise your presentation is. I have the exact model puller that you showed inbound to my house. I am planning on keeping mine in my truck in case I get stuck off-roading. thanks!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The More Power Puller is an awesome piece of equipment! It doesn’t take up a lot of space in your truck so you can have it handy if the situation comes up that you or someone gets stuck. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Great explanation video. I have been looking for an emergency recovery tool for my truck. I carry a lot of weight and don't want to spend a bunch of money getting aftermarket bumper and electric winch. They are super expensive, (winch and bumper) and heavy. My camper truck needs to stay light. I prefer to carry more camping gear supplies vs dead weight bumper and electric winch. When I'm stuck, normally a shovel or traction boards do the job. This gives me piece of mind to self recover with a winch, if the need comes up.
Without a doubt the More Power Pull is an economical tool for recovery and with the supplied snatch block it doubles your pulling power. Many off road enthusiasts have told me they carry this puller to get them out of trouble. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
So I don’t have to tell you how handy the winch is. Reall amazing all the things it can do especially for a one man operation. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools thinking of the expense and weight of a bumper power winch would look cool but it isn’t flexible. I use it from any direction and in many applications. Weighing the options for back-up which are most likely to solve a problem this was an easy call. I have no problem with paying for a totally high quality, family USA company was the right decision. The synthetic line lbs very cool. I had 3500 lb compact tractor was sliding down a mountain side in NC and the winch took a while but save it and got it out. Your review was really spot on.
tony great video, I've got one 2 years ago I love it, I got the 3 ton. my friend has one that's he bought from a farmer to put his truck on a trailer. he said it's 40 years old, one of the old timers. but they look the same but his is silver. he has the cable; I've got the rope. they work great!!! have a great day.
William, since you and your friend own the More Power Puller you know how useful it is. It’s extremely well made. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I highly recommend the extension handle. Unfortunately mine wasn’t delivered in time when I was making the video. The extension bar will save your back when winching from the ground. Also order a couple extra cotter pins that hold the handle to Athena extension bar. They are easy to misplace.👍TCT
I bought the chinese clone version for 190. Its exactly the same. Actually better as main pulley pin is removable. Just had to change out steel cable for some cheap synthetic tow rope.
Hey Tony, Just discovered your channel while checking out one of my other go to channels, great descriptions and it’s obvious you put a lot of time and effort into your content. I have a similar style feed through 3 strand come along that does not spool the cordage,it does not compare to that beast you are reviewing but has its place in my arsenal, due to the fact I can run an unlimited amount of cordage. I have had the pleasure of using the model you are reviewing and it is a very good quality product, well worth the money if you can afford it. Thanks and you have another fan of your channel 👍⚡️
Nathan I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Like you I have multiple winch tool options but I will say The More Power Puller is an awesome piece of equipment. Appreciate you watching and commenting 👍TCT
I'm glad you touched on it momentarily. What the heck is PULLING POWER? Tell me how much it will dead lift straight up. Pulling power is an arbitrary non-defined quasi-measurable. Pull what across what surface with or without bearings, wheels, or tires?
Nice review Tony. It may be slow, but waiting for a tow and then getting charged an arm and a leg is not good either. I could see it coming in handy for stump pulling.
Frances, a small winch that does BIG things. Definitely will save a lot of money if you get stuck and need a tow. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I accidentally sent my first message before it was complete. Great video as usual. If you’re pulling a tree that leans heavy to one direction. If you want to pull the tree in the opposite direction, the ability to crank fast enough. Just your opinion. Thanks Tony. Later Al
Steve, both the Maasdam rope puller or The More Power Puller would not be good candidates for a heavy leaner because as you mentioned once you get tree over center you can't crank fast enough and could be a problem. The Portable Winch would definitely be a better option. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Tony, hope your trip was good. This tool would it be good to direct a tree when falling. I wondering if it would crank to slow. I think it should just your opinion
It would work great for tensioning a tree to go in direction you want but not if you have a leaner. As you pointed out it too slow once you get tree over center. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I totally agree, it’s a tool that doesn’t take up much space but can get you out of a lot of trouble when working alone. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
I volunteer for an organization that does trail work on the Allegheny Trail. We have a Masdamn Rope Puller, a 2 and 1 ton Grip-Hoist and the tool you just shown. All of them have their place when doing different types of work. But when packing equipment long distances the lighter the better so the Grip-Hoist is our go to. But you'll not get any simpler than this tool.
Jeffery I definitely need to look into the Grip-Hoist. I totally get the benefit of lightweight but strong tools. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
As a 68 year old trapper who goes in wilderness alone on snowmobile and quad I can’t say enough about the Masdam rope puller got me out of so many jamb. Good video like the puller but not use for it.
I totally agree the Maasdam rope winch is an awesome, lightweight tool to have on hand and can save the day when you get stuck. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Glad you enjoyed the video. If you’re referring to the pallet fork frame it’s made by Artillian company. I did a review on their modular system. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NsFtAGXBs54.html Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools Thanks for the reply. I did some research and I found that ATI, another Attachment Co has what I need for my Kioti KL 120 loader. It’s a quick attachment for the loader arms. Part # QA-KM2 I believe the KL120 was just shy of production year of coming standard on all K series loaders of having quick attachments. Subbed thanks for the great channel 👊👍
Eric, after this review many people contacted me and didn't know they were using The More Power Puller for years. Thanks for watching and commenting. TCT
Richard you won’t be disappointed. You’re lucky you live close, go in and ask if they might have a “blemished” one. You might get a deal if they have any on hand. If you do buy one let me know your thoughts after using it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Can’t speak to the abrasion on gravel but here is what the makers of the rope say on sunlight exposure. “Per Samson®: AmSteel-Blue, an HMPE rope, will not dry rot. The temperature only becomes an issue if it reaches 150 degrees or higher. You may start to see some color fading in the rope, but that has no effect on strength. ” Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Michael it’s a PJ Trailer. I’ve owned it for about three years now and absolutely love it. It not only hauls my tractor but UtV & ATV as well as everything else. Check out my review video on the trailer where I discuss all the options/accessories available for it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JAXdA-aDUm8.html Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Based on information I received the 5/16” AmSteel Blue rope used on The More Power puller it has a maximum strength of 13,700 lbs and is rated for a single line pull of 6000 lbs. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools That's probably accurate. Took some digging but I found the WLL for the 5/16. It's 2460lbs at a factor of 5:1 which is derived from it's minimum breaking strength of 12,300 lbs.
The thing is heavy, expensive, awkward, and slow. But nothing else will pull like that when you need it. And if you take the cost per year to own it, it is nearly zero since the thing will last forever.
You definitely summed it up perfectly. Awesome tool that will get you out of trouble Anna’s well as save you money. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Over the years they have tried to copy but unfortunately they weren’t reliable and broke easily so those companies aren’t around any more. Like the old saying “ you get what you pay for” Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
Like the old saying, you get what you pay for. But… I’m sure if you don’t use a winch much your way definitely will work. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I had one of those cheap Chinese come alongs for a while. Then I had to use it when my truck got stuck in the snow while elk hunting in Montana. I was pulling on my truck with it and thinking, "If this thing blows up in my face I can't even get to the hospital because my truck will still be stuck and there is no phone reception here." When I got home I ordered the More Power Puller because when you really need a tool you can trust it is totally worth the money.
