man lost Jazz in the first movie, got killed in the second one by someone he called brother, lost his best friend to his mentor in the third one. he had every right to go off on the cons
I think Bumblebee was closer to being Optimus' closest friend as he was his oldest like he said in TLK. However Ironhide was around since the quest for the allspark of earth and had probably known Prime for almost as logn as Bumblebee so I can see what you mean. There's no way his death didn't utterly devastate Optimus emotionally.
Better ending: Ironhide: wait wha... *looks back at Sentinel pointing his gun at him and then dodges* Whoa! You traitorous punk ass!!! Autobots attack Sentinel! *Ironhide, Bumblebee and Sideswipe all jump Sentinel and try to hold him off. Then Optimus comes in, does a backflip, tears off Sentinel's face and saves the day.*
Guy lost a civil war, was force to flee his own home, lost many friends, died and then came back to life, found out his mentor betrayed him and his new home invaded, the humans hate him and thus began hunting his people down. Honestly, its a miracle he hasn't gone full shattered glass on both the cons and the humans
Exactly,that would've mentally destroyed most people,it's a miracle Prime still held onto his morals of defending the innocent and those who cannot defend themselves.
A lot of people talk about Bayverse Optimus being a psychopath, but I think he's just justifiably vengeful. He's learned over the course of these movies that when you turn your back on these villains or give them a second chance, they will betray you, and innocents will die. He turns away from Megatron during their fight and he gets stabbed in the back, leading to The Fallen almost destroying the Earth. He lets Megatron live at the end of ROTF and it leads to the invasion of Chicago and over a thousand human casualties. The Bayverse is one of the most savage, brutal, unforgiving Transformers continuities and Optimus has just adapted to live and fight evil in it.
in short: bayverse optimus is (unintentionally) more realistic take on optimus prime's character, he learnt that being a pacifist will not always fix conflicts and that violence is far more efficient

Optimus was right though, sentinel wanted to become a god, not simply 'save' his race. He completely abandoned his morals thinking it was alright because he was simply a higher being. He tried calling out Optimus saying he could never make the hard decisions. That's what he kept telling himself, he justified his actions by claiming he can make the hard decisions and others think they are the wrong decisions simply because they could never make them. This came back to bite him because Optimus made the hard but correct decision to kill sentinel. Optimus didn't kill sentinel simply because he killed his friend, he was an enemy. It seems with Optimus if you kill autobots you could be redeemed because it is war. But if you simply kill humans because they're below you, he shows no mercy. He can't just let the decepticons leave to fight another day because they are bound to slaughter humans wherever they go.
And it makes sense too. Sentinel was the one who taught Optimus that Freedom was the right of all sentient beings, only to go against that very teaching by not just making a deal with Megatron, but by also killing Ironhide, stripping away his life and his freedom.
Yet somehow, people will still be mad at Optimus for being brutal when he's seen his colleagues die in both his own home and Earth. He had every right to be mad
People call Bayverse prime a psychopath but forget that bro lost his second in command jazz, then died, came back, then watched who i think is the only one who keeps Optimus in line, ironhide, die to his former master, learns Megatron still lives, watches humanity turn their backs on the bots. what he did was not psychopathy its the rage of a patient man who finally hit his breaking point.
Ironhide is one of the oldest Autobot and Warrior/Trainer for younger Autobots and also the Weapon Specialist/Provider. So for Sentinel to kill Ironhide, Optimus will show no mercy even if you are higher than him or a respected Autobot.
honestly this is the best prowler transformers meme so far solely because of how much more fun you had with the transitions compared to the rest being mostly the same fade in and fade out image of a character with black and white colors and human eyes
Optimus only ever lets it out when he's fighting. Like he still talks like a calm robot dad when he's out of combat but when he's fighting he's both unhinged and unstoppable.
Technically Bayverse Optimus is something you wouldn't want to mess with at all. He's not a chill hero that would give you a second chance. Yes he would do everything to protect his friends but his enemies..... Nope. All you can do is stay away. Also remember, everytime you are not moving, *HE IS COMING CLOSER*

Bayverse Optimus FIGHTS AGAINST DECEPTICONS THAT KILLED INNOCENTS FOR FUN ON A DAILY BASIS, not mentioning The Cybertronians are Living Robots, meaning they are harder to kill, & he always gaves them a relative quickly death
I do actually miss this trend seen in the Bayverse, TFP and also the G1 cartoon (in a more heroic light), that the Decepticons have very good reason to fear Optimus and have no shot at facing him.
What I love about this specific universes Optimus is that he's more anti hero than an actual hero he doesn't care if he kills a villain he has the right to and must or more innocent will die its far more interesting than capturing a bad guy then putting them in prison just for them to escape 5000 times
In bayverse yeah, but there are a lot of other continuities where he's a lot more peaceful (mostly since the decepticons in those other continuities also aren't as psychotic as bayverse)
Let's be honest, Optimus would be a SIGNIFICANTLY more terrifying villain than Megatron, A - because he is rarely going all out and for the jugular, and B - because he actually manages and inspires forces and would be able to persuade a lot more to his side than megatron

Bro when I saw that scene of Iron Hide in the cinema I genuinely shouted out "NOOOO!" The get back was so satisfying though, Jazz was also a character that really hurt my soul, seeing him get split like a kitkat still plays on my mind
holy shit, modern transformers, but the camera actually stays on the transformers, shows us the fight, doesn't cut around to some scrambling humans or screaming army guys, and isn't shaking so much that everything is a blur? Damn, things HAVE changed sine the first movie.
I love how Optimus isn't seen as this "peaceful" robot here to help earth from evil, he's like an actual Soldier fighting a war, bloody and brutal and will kill and slaughter those who oppose. Optimus isn't a Hero, he's quite literally a Leader in a War...

Deceptions in these movies commit horrible crimes that would be punishable by death via the Geneva Convention But people get mad when Optimus actually kills them even though he did it in a much quicker and humane manner
