A wonderful version of an old tune! I have followed Elias developement on You Tube the last 11 years. Also had the pleasure meet, hear, travel with her and Joan during a weeks tour in Sweden last year. A fantastic pleasant, charming, multitalented, polite young woman who the Music World sooner or later will regard as one of the outstanding and wanted solists!

This is what this goofy crazy world needs, good music. And there is the talented, lovely, genial Élia Bastida. 🎶 Bellissima!

A 1918 standard by Layton and Creamer that Stephane Grappelli liked to play given the Elia Bastida treatment some seven years ago (with Andrea Motis making a rare appearance on tenor filling in Elia's spot in the sax section).

La enésima muestra de que Élia es una de las mejores violinistas de Jazz del mundo, actualmente (y me niego a compararla otra vez con Grapelli, más que nada porque ya lo he hecho muchas veces por estos foros ... upsss, creo que acabo de hacerlo de nuevo 😂). Pues eso, técnica, sensibilidad, pura magia ... Luigi Grasso también es para echarle de comer aparte, vaya genio del saxo, el mozo. Y esta vez con el barítono, que siempre me ha parecido un artefacto monstruoso que ni siquiera se como hacen para poder sostenerlo. Del maestro Terraza, pues que decir, ha debido nacer en una conjunción planetaria de esas que solo ocurren cada 100 años y lleva la divinidad de serie. Algo parecido a Traver. Excelente Pi como acompañante a la batería. Del resto de la chavalería, solo hay que mirar la larga lista de nombres ilustres, talento para llenar todos los contenedores que pasan al año por el Canal de Suez, así por poner una comparación. 😉

Recently a relative of mine accidentally saw Elia on my iPhone screen, he was impressed. He didn’t know it was my misplaced cell phone. He said Elia was a smiling angel dressed in a white blouse, holding a violin. I just couldn’t stop laughing. He’s and old jazz man, still dreaming about those great jazz women he performed gigs with, many years ago. I tell you, Sicilian old men never forget their love affairs.
