Talk’s Kevin O’Sullivan and royal commentator Kinsey Schofield discuss the real reason why Prince Harry turned down a meeting with King Charles during his UK trip.
Earlier in May, the Duke of Sussex travelled to the UK for the first time since February to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.
There was speculation that he may have seen his father, but a spokesperson for Harry said the monarch was “too busy” for a meeting to go ahead - in what was dubbed ‘the snub of the century’.
It has been revealed that Charles did agree to put Harry up at a royal residence, but his son said no because he had security concerns.
It is thought St James' Palace was where he could have stayed, but it has been claimed the Duke was concerned it would leave him staying in a “visible location with public entrance and exit points and no police protection”.
Harry stayed in a hotel during his trip. Kinsey says the earlier announcement “villainized” King Charles, adding that Harry’s pursuit for police protection makes him “entitled, arrogant and ruthless”.
