“Bobik Blazen”, anonymous 15th century virelai - Ensemble Into the Winds 

The intriguing name of this piece comes from the Czech “bobik” (a diminutive of Robert's name) and “blázen” (meaning “minstrel”). Was it a song whose lyrics had been omitted by the scribe in the manuscript, or an instrumental piece as the title suggests? In both cases, its musical writing fits in ideally with the instruments of the 15th-century ceremonial ensemble (the alta capella), composed of a shawm, an alto shawm (pommer / bombard) and a slide trumpet.
