Come to think of it, this episode is kind of like a weird mirror of Spongebob's normal status quo: -Mr. Krabs is acting on principle even against his financial gain. -Squidward is driving Spongebob crazy. -Spongebob gets angry.
Honestly I kind of like the formula swap it makes the show more unique and if they had more episodes like this I think the series wouldn't be as stale.
@@optimistprime3192 that's not the quote. the quote is "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." you're probably confusing that one with “there are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.”
Y'know, this was one of the few episodes where Spongebob's amiable and overall helpful nature was really tested. Even at similar points where Spongebob got really pushed, like when Sandy put him through a virtual gauntlet of extreme sports before she was forced to hibernate, Spongebob never really exploded like he did here.
@@qpol Funny. That's one of the reasons why people had issues with Coconut Fred; on top of being a shameless SpongeBob rip-off, Fred had practically no other emotions outside of joy. He didn't even know what being angry feels like.
Spongebob flipping out fits so much better in the episode than how it actually plays out. He literally chokes his boss and then finds out Mr. Krabs had the missing dime all along. How did he not explode even further?
I am surprised he didn’t beat the shit out of his boss he can do this at any time it would be 110% justified for all the crabs Mr. crabs put them through
Spongebob is a very gullible character though. I mean, he felt guilty about stealing a balloon of all things. Shouldn't be too hard for him to forgive and accept Mr. Krabs, especially now that both of their problems have been resolved
So we gonna ignore Mr. Krabs pointlessly zooming in on the dime Spongebob gave him while knowing that his original dime was several times bigger?...aight, just making sho
They also should’ve did a bubble transition showing that Mr krabs is wrapped in bandages like a cocoon, except for his eyes showing that SpongeBob had beat the shit out of him
Ah, a far better time for Spongebob Where he was still naive and chipper, but had limits to how much of one thing he could handle. He could cry, he could get angry, he could scream. Nowadays, he's nothing more than a bottomless cup. He can take anything and everything, and still be as chipper as the day he was born.
@@seashell9570 Do we want to hear it constantly? Nope. It’s a show, dude. You can criticise it here and there but there are times where it just gets plain obnoxious.
Is it really? Even if Squidward got on Spongebob’s nerves, Spongebob has never annoyed Squidward though being a demanding NEET. Although I think this episode shows some more of Squidward’s depressive nature.
It literally depends on the situation, some situations bring out either the best or the worst in us. Situations like this brought out the part of SpongeBob that really is more mature and rational.
@@christianjohnson5379 "mature and rational" Try strangling your boss and convincing people you're "mature and rational". Though, to be fair, SpongeBob should've done a lot worse to Mr. Krabs.
@@zierin705 While strangling your boss isn't usually the mature and rational thing to do, strangling Mr. Krabs is the exception to the rule. That crustaceaus cheapskate had it coming.
I miss this version of Spongebob. He was friendly and childish, but he had breaking points, and could get angry. The Spongebob today is just perpetually happy.
The pure rage in Spongebob’s voice after he picks Mr. Krabs up honestly shocked me as much as a kid as it does now just compared to how happy-go-lucky Spongebob normally is no matter what. Squidward must’ve REALLY dug in deep.
@bcd32dok36 Well, spongebob is not much better as he is just as bad if not worse than squidward , especially in recent episodes. In fact, now that I think about most characters in this show are terrible people, but I suppose that's what makes it funny at the end of the day.
I think its funny that he pulled out a looking glass and everything to inspect a dime that looks absolutely nothing like the one he was actually looking for.
@@JAWS-fc7fn true not only that but being in a particular emotion is a good motivator for having great physical strength particularly for spongebob since when he is afraid or angry like that episode when he able to literally punch squidward's face right into his head. Emotions are also a good motivator for physical strength for patrick as when spongebob was desperate to get into the salty spittoon he called Patrick tuby and patrick punched him and gave him a black eye and that episode when patrick became a mad chopper after being taught karate by spongebob after thinking he had crushed his friend to death he almost effortlessly pushed the heavy rubble off him.
0:18 - 0:24 The voice acting talent and the complimentary animation are amazing. I never fully appreciated the work put into this show as a kid, but as an adult I have a whole new respect for it.
Spongebob is the perfect example of when an extremely passive person gets mad It takes a lot to get those people actually angry for more than .2 seconds
@@sevensimons2873 Bro be so fr Ppl gotta take you seriously that's not nice Take Plankton's advice to Spongebob and be more assertive fr Have a good one tho
Me too. When SpongeBob busted out the side of his house screaming his head off; I knew at that moment SpongeBob was finally sick and tired of Squidward's crap.
@@georgerobertson7010 I honestly wish that SpongeBob had just kicked Squidward out of his house and told him "Stay out on the streets where you belong, ya good-for-nothing freeloader!"
@@Exc4Iibur it ended with mr krabs apologizing to squidward, but mr krabs says “I know you didn’t mean to misplace me dime” and squidward gets mad about being accused of misplacing his dime when he didn’t. As they are arguing in the background, spongebob puts on the made outfit and the camera fades out onto the Krusty krab.
Back when SpongeBob was a well written protagonist with a range of different emotions, morals and moments of maturity, instead of the bland, one note character we have now.
This is one of my favorite moments because it shows that spongebob isn’t a stupid joyful kid. And that in cases where he’s given reason to be, he can get pissed off like a real person.
I always love those episodes when Spongebob completely snaps. It shows that he’s not as happy go lucky as he seems and that he has a limit to how much bullshit he can take.
I think this episode is even funnier as an adult because of how real it is. The world is full of idiot bosses, and sometimes our friends can really test our patience.
The true best ending: Mr. Krabs: Me first dime! SpongeBob: Well, Mr. Krabs... Do you want to know what I think? Err, reggaflaggashewanawa Mr. Krabs! Fliddynittysvit! Fliddywiddy Mr. Krabs' wallet! Mr. Krabs: Wait, boy! What're you doing with that? SpongeBob: Something that should've been done a long time ago! Mr. Krabs: Nooooooo! *cuts to a green Mr. Krabs being rushed to an ambulance after ingesting the rancid patty from "Born Again Krabs"* Squidward: Sp-Sp-Sp-SpongeBob! Wh-wh-what have you done!? SpongeBob: I did exactly as you said, Squidward! I dismantled this oppressive establishment. *cuts to live action scene with Patchy saying "Wasn't that great, kids?"* Fin. Now someone with editing skills please do this for me, lol.
This is the only episode of SpongeBob I actually like. Because he feels real and acts realisticly about squidward being a leech and even just fucking snaps at his boss
Spongebob: *"YOU HAD THE DIME ON YOU THIS WHOLE DANG TIME!?!?!? AND YOU ACCUSED SQUIDWARD OF STEALING IT AND FIRED HIM FOR IT!?!?!? HOW COULD YOU NOT NOTICE IT WAS STILL ON YOU!?!?!? THAT THING IS PRACTICALLY A BOULDER!!!!"*
From giving up his time, massaging, feeding Squidward, to falling down stairs, to being an actual maid, and now to losing his cool over Mr. Krabs' "dime", SpongeBob has had enough.
Looking back at this shame, the voice acting was truly Stellar in that scene. I mean I don't know what you all think, but personally I really truly look at this scene and think the voice acting was real good in this scene. Cuz I truly feel like I'm listening to SpongeBob lose his s***. It truly sounds like he's absolutely had it.
I remember being so shocked 1st time seeing this episode. Spongebob, the normally happy go lucky, patient, and understanding sea sponge we all know and love, shows us that even HE has limits and honestly, I wouldn’t ever want to get on his bad side because he just choked HIS BOSS all because of a stupid coin!!!!! God I miss these seasons
I’ve never once seen people question why Mr. Krabs is using a scope to micro-examine that dime to determine it’s not his when the dime he’s looking for is the size of his fucking desk.
In the end- Spongebob: I WILL BREAK YOUR DIME, AND I WILL COOK YOU WITH BUTTER, YOU CRUSTACEOUS CHEAPSKATE!!! Mr. Krabs: NO! ME DIMEY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! *Screaming crazy* Plankton: Yes. YES! YEEEEEEESSS! THE FORMULA IS MINE! *Laugh maniacally*
Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that Spongebob was straight up strangling the ever loving shit out of Krabs, holding him up to cut off more of his breathing supply, and probably wouldn't have stopped if that dime didn't fall out? What if that wasn't even his dime and he just used that as a cover to not be fucking murdered?
