It would have been a poor debate strategy to spend all evening answering Mehdi's misleading questions about specific incidents undertaken by the IDF in a year-long war. Many of the answers would amount to either "the school/hospital/apartment was being used by Hamas as a command center or "the trucks were hit by mistake" or even "that did not happen the way you claim." It would not have been very edifying.
