I'm Mexican and when I worked there Indian people would speak hindi in front of me so I couldn't understand our workload, when I raised the issue to an Indian manager he didn't do anything about it... Glad I got out... I also told them about crypto back in 2016 and they would laugh at it, now I can hire my ex boss and his boss's boss lol
@@MrE073 About the crypto - I think ppl are laughing more at your gamble But why r these endians speaking hindi to u when u don't speak it. They behave weirdly 🥴
@@MrE073hey cryptobro, were they talking *to* you, see, if they weren't, you interrupting their conversation to whine about the language it's in, is not going to enamour them to you XD As usual autistic people understand social dynamics better than cryptobros
For perspective, in 2023 Microsoft paid $20B in dividends ($55M/day)... So thr fine is 25% of one day's stock dividends equivalent - or 0.07% of their annual dividends. That's just in dividends, they also had profit that they spent buying back stock from the market, and I'm sure they have other profit reinvested. So the fine is a drop in the bucket
@@Calyoon I agree, the government giving flat fines is always laughable if the company is big enough. Obviously the point is to discourage bad behavior and poor work practices but 14 million isn't even scratching their account. A flat 20% however would be much better, it would also stimulate some part of the economy too.
I didn't work at big 5 company, but the problem is that even companies withh 500 to 1000 software devs only copy these bigger companies... my old company 100% did this. The problem is that everyone wants to pretend the workplace is fair but it just isn't fair. I'm actually ok with things not being fair, as long as it makes sense and expectations are not lied about. Man big tech is so annoying.
@@quantuman100 well I suppose but I don't think the company could write down on paper why some employees are favored and how they are favored exactly. It's just bias that can't really fit a formula.
How could people realistically unionize at a monolithic corporation like Microsoft? (Genuine question, not saying it's impossible I just want to know how)
Having been in a union... They suck. You think the BS, the politics, corruption and back door deals are bad at the corporate level? It's 10x worse with unions. The elections are a joke, the people who NEED to get fired never do and it chases out the ones that care about the job. OR unless you pay union fees and dues thru the nose you'll never have the legal representation you need to fight. So yeah, your base pay goes up, but the amount and percentages you pay out in fees and dues basically negates it and uncle Sam just takes a bigger bite at the end of the year. Unions suck
This happens at my company too. We are big company in Apple security. I took medical leave a few years ago, I was horridly sick and had doctors notes. It even came up in my most recent performance review.
McDonald's in the UK has had a similar situation, in that its a massive PR nightmare. The amount of stupid online slideshows I've had to sit through is mind numbing. They did implement some good things, like an anonymous way to report misconduct for example.
I hate when you ask someone what theyre gonna do about something and they say "were gonna update/we have plans to better…/we have some solutions we're gonna implement". What solutions, what updates, whats in the plans? Hate non-answers
If you EVER get fired, you need to understand.. you have lightning in a bottle. The company could fuck up in a million different ways and taking then to court on any of them is a guaranteed settlement.
Wow this hits so hard. In my company since last 3 months, we get a mail showing how much hours were productive. Ofcourse, if you attend meetings like townhall or any organizational meetings and personal or medical leaves it is deducted from our hours and shown as non productive. Last month I got a mail that my productive hours were less after I took a single day medical leave.
I had a small burnout situation last year that caused my annual rating to be dropped to MSE… therefore only 50% bonus and no rise of monthly payment… well thank you!
America’s a crazy place. My colleague just came back from nearly 2 years parental leave because her two kids came back to back… and I work for a bank of all companies lol.
Happen to me. I was on official fmla leave (only 2 weeks) my manager called me on Saturday to fix an issue. I didn’t answer the phone. I was written up when I returned to the office. Called HR, they didn’t do anything. I left the company soon after. How do I sue? Company was TIAA
Probably something like they spect you to reach whatever, but they didn't account for special leaves. In America it's pretty common that ppl win stupid cases, that's why microwaves specify not to put your pet on them LMAO
In my company, mothers also perform worse on average than single men. Is that discrimination? We have a mother who is in her second year of maternity leave and is not given a position that would be appropriate for 2 years of experience in the job. (She has been with us for 2.5 years).
Is normal thing U work less so that means u don't have the same performance as the next person And man should make the same as woman since women r on the easy street
Medical leave = sick leave. And every single country on earth allows excessive unjustified sick leave as at least a partial reason for dismissal or selection for redundancy
I can’t believe that people think they can take months off of work and still advance at the same rate as people who work the whole time. You should not lose your job but don’t expect the same results as those who work through. If you work 80% as much you don’t get 100% out.
that boot taste nice; also how much you work != work output, a theoretical efficient worker would require less time to get a task done than your average joe, if I work 80% as much but deliver greater output then yes I do deserve to advance because I am better
