Obama basically said America should decide which wars are ok, and that when America goes to war and uses drones it's always well and just. Then he said we should be listening to people who disagree with himself, followed by accusing Medea of "not listening to him" in a patriarchal way. He's a good representative of neoliberalism.

Henry Kissinger, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Barack Obama, and Abiy Ahmed all won the Nobel Peace Prize. It's a very prestigious club. I think the children of MLK should give the Nobel Peace Prize medal back to the Nobel Committee; He clearly doesn't belong on that list.
If you don't want war you don't make rules for engagement. The brutality of war should not be compared. The vocabulary should not be similar as that used in sport. Can you imagine having humane rape? The body heals but not the mind.

In total, about 50-60 million native Americans died, cause a 2.4 cppm drop in the world. Then America became a country.
I would respectfully disagree that McGovern was the last anti-war Presidential candidate. I believe Jimmy Carter absolutely was anti-war -- To go even farther back - I am sure the Iran Hostage crisis was also manufactured. Jimmy Carter had just made his first state if the union address where he emphasized the termination of the US dependency on foreign oil. He promoted alternative energy. The corporations that revolve around the oil industry gasped & set to expunge Carter in any way possible-- Combined with the early 1970s overwhelming rejection of war and the end of the Vietnam war - Americans wanted peace. Suddenly the "USA! USA!" perverse national identity was fueled and those 444 days were the painful transition taking a peace leaning America back to the imperialist and war mongering past.
The worse thing is wars are fought for billionaires usually oil, some for gold diamond forests plantations and mines. Kids are mind controlled and made stupid from primary school to go die like movie heroes.

Mr. Moyn seems to forget that there were ' rules of wartime behavior ' . How could he possibly forget the Geneva Convention, which clearly spelled out what was and wasn't acceptable when conducting warfare. Perhaps that bit of information wasn't useful for him in writing his book.
Dude, what is he talking about and what are you talking about? He is talking about a country that has been endlessly at war for the past 200 years, now using 'humane' war as a tool to perpetuate it (esp Obama presidency). He's not saying there shouldn't be any standards and rules in conduct. He's saying that they can't be used to make war easier to stomach so we can keep waging war. Have you even read his book?
As a historian, he is a failure. In my opinion we should learn from history by following the money behind war. Where is the power behind the curtain and who benefits?Preservation and profit are behind war. How can we change the future if children are not taught the truth and introduced to the reality of the world. This whole idea of morality in war is just to make it palatable for detached Americans.
