My gosh… this is one of the most beautiful programs of the season. The connection and charisma, the breaths in the air, the flow, the sound of the blades and the stripping of all the Schnickschnack back to what counts most…two people creating a moment in time together on the ice. Thank you all for sharing. ❤️
I lost my wife in December. She was a huge skating fan and I wish she could have seen this. Truly beautiful. I am not afraid to admit I was in tears as she would have been.
What a beautiful performance. I was saddened to read they would not be competing at all this season (four concussions is A LOT), so to have this is a true gift. Thank you, Jordan, for having this platform so all of us could see what would have been limited to practice sessions. If this is the end of Kaitlin and Jean-Luc's partnership/competitive skating careers, I wish them nothing but the best for their health and future endeavors. It was an absolute joy to watch them perform. One of my favorites.
So many of us are taking this as a soft retirement announcement. Oh gosh, you are SO SO loved by the fans!!!! If we are really lucky, we *will* get to see you compete again….but if not, please know your true fans want what is best for both of you, and especially to put your health first. Love you guys.
It will forever be a shame that this program does not win them a national championship this year because I honestly believe it could have. I'm glad they're putting their health first, and I hope they find their way back to competing.
My favourite free dance of the season. I'm in shambles - this is what skating is, does, and represents. Gutted that it will never be seen in competition. Masterpiece.
I feel the same! I had tears streaming down my face when I realized how emotional she was! They are sooooo good! It makes me really sad to think about her personal struggles the past few years and how skating's culture can be very negative for one's mental health.
This is such a wonderful and beautiful performance. I love it. Love that crunching sound of the strong edges. If anyone is wondering, the main song is called Kyle (Northern Line) by Fred Again... and the instrumental song in the middle is called AUS23 (1:1) by Charles Leclerc.
@@pattysmith6563 You can search on RU-vid for the titles in my comment, they're both on here and that's how I've been listening to them. There are a few different versions of the "I found you" Kyle song but the title I mentioned in my comment, the (Northern Line) version, is this specific version that they skate to. They probably edited them together specifically for their program so I don't think it's really available as one single piece of music other than here in this video. I'm sure there's probably some way to download audio from RU-vid videos if you Google it.
The beautiful smoothness of their movements juxtaposed with the unexpectedly gritty sounds of their blades on the ice and that wonderful spoken word... My goodness, what a combination!
I'm crying too. Thank you On Ice Perspectives for making this an art form rather than a competitive event. The skaters are dancers - living sculptures creating such forms and expressing so much passion. Music and form without commentary.
Just…brilliant. There was a rawness, an emotion, you’d never see in competition, but Jordan, you captured this so perfectly. Whatever these two decide to do next (and with four concussions between them, I’m glad they’re putting their health and safety first), they will do it with brilliance. So much love to them.
Yes. This program stands alone, peerless, as it will always transcend those made for scrutiny and judgment. It is free from expectations of reward. I hope you know you have already won in the hearts and minds of the people who matter: Skaters who will be inspired to find their wings and fly. As a coach, this is why I skate. I’ll show this video to my students and say this is why they should skate too. Thank you from State College ❤
One of my all-time favourites dance teams, consistently underscored in competition. Always different, imaginative and showing a total commitment to doing what they want with exceptional purity rather than what is expected. Such a shame that they are not competing this year - I had wondered where they were, but having had bad concussion myself, wholly understand.
That 20 second step sequence entirely on the same leg in the first minute of the program then still being able to exert themselves for 4.5 more minutes is some serious talent and athleticism
I've never seen a skating program that truly made me feel like "this is what true, unconditional love looks like when it is put into art" until I saw this performance. That was absolutely breathtaking, every part of it flowed so perfectly and yet it was so raw and real. I honestly had a difficult time holding back tears and I do not cry when watching figure skating so congratulations to Kaitlin and Jean Luc as well as Jordan. If these 2 aren't actually a couple, they honestly deserve an Oscar. Beautiful camera work as well, of course. It can't be easy to perfectly capture every moment of this masterpiece while skating backwards and all over the rink without seeing where you are going. ❤
You summed it up beautifully with your first sentence. There is a real deep friendship and instinctive understanding between them, something that always shows when they skate, and when they chat together, and I suspect that is why they are so loved by skating fans. I'd say there was no 'show' here for the public, but them really expressing their true selves.
There was something beautiful, soft, touching, and maybe romantic about this performance! It felt different than other ice skating performances for some reason! Stunning! 💜
that entire one-foot sequence at the beginning...just wow. it would have been breathtaking if just one person did it, but two people in perfect unison is just magical.
This was truly moving. For several reasons. And given what we know now after their statement, I see their last words here of indicative not only about this magnificent, gorgeous skate, but also with a hidden meaning about their whole career. Because when everything is said and done, yes it is sad and emotional, but it was, indeed, a lot of fun. Wishing you both all the best❤
i enjoy the immediate moments after the ending! i always wonder what they say to each other or feel afterward! you should start including a minute or so after the end so we can “be there with them.” love all you do!
Gorgeous--the synchrony, the flow, the creativeness--and the emotion. It felt like being drawn into another world, other lives, other stories. They seem to be in their own personal deeply connected space, while at the same time, opening this space up to the audience. Truly extraordinary.
It's so freakin cold to simply sit and watch this can't imagine how much effort and dedication would have been required to even do this program or even let alone stand on the ice.... 🥶 This motivates me to make no excuses and sit for another hour to study 😆 beautifully choreographed love 💖
SO BEAUTIFUL i literally shed a tear. im sad that this program will mostly likely never be competed, but also love the fact that it can stay untouched by judgement and we can just appreciate it for the work of art that it is
What's going on. I can't stop crying, full of emotions. You both directly talked with my soul. So much beauty, so much love, so much silence and pain and so much hope that everything will be fine. Thank you so much Kaitlin and Jean-Luc!
Wow. I LOVED this. The choreography and the precision of every movement of their hands, the expressiveness, the beauty. I’m not familiar with this pair, but it looks like there have been some issues that will keep them from competing with this program this season for sure. Whatever is or is not going on, this was an incredible performance, and equally perfect videography. Thank you to all of you for allowing us to witness this incredible moment, and for preserving it to be enjoyed by many in the future.
I think if Daisuke (Takahashi) had taken up ice dance quite a few years earlier, there would have been stiff competion though! Both of them are exceptional natural movers, seemingly no mental block holding them back.
Wonderful to see them skating like that! Though it must have been hard with the cold ;) Hope to continue seeing the beauty Kaitlin and Jean-Luc are creating. So far they announced no more competitions this season...
I keep watching this and I keep crying every time it's. It's so beautiful, even down to the way you held the frame at the end on the skyline. Incredible. As a lifelong figure skating fan, this program is everything.
Probably my favorite ice dancing pair of all time...and the most under-rated and under-scored pair as well...meaning the judges score them lower than they should be, and overscore others who have made more of a name for themselves, for whatever reason. I hope they come back for at least the 2025 season, or more! They always have great programs, emotions, and some unique moves. And Jean-Luc, my gosh, he is really strong with Baker. Please come back for more!
Wow did they make this look easy, flawless, natural born artistry. I forgot to breathe while watching cuz I only wanted to hear the sounds of the skates. Hope to see them again; they deserve gold.
Gorgeous skating, music, the gentle sound of skates on ice like the skips on an old record -- and the Central Park backdrop -- magic!! ✨🤩 I think I'd heard the music before, but here it made such an impression on me, I added it to my playlists. 🥰 Didn't get why Kaitlin was crying afterward, until I read the description under the video! I hope they both continue to perform, even if not for competitions. But whatever they decide is best for them, I wish them the very best.
Normally i do not like icedance so much, but they skate so beautifull and with so much passion. I love to watch them. It is the most beautifull icedance i have ever seen.❤
This brought tears to my eyes. literal tears. I can't believe she was crying at the end as well. There was SO much expressed on those skates. I only dream to skate at that level. I love this channel for all these intimate views of what it is like on the ice, outside the competitions.
This breaks my heart. I love you both. We are crying with you Kaitlin. Like I said on instagram, truly a gift to us all. Miss you on the ice BUT not at the expense of your health. xoxo
Thank you Jean Luc and Kaitlin. This brought me to tears and made me search for the things I used to love doing many decades ago and for some reason stopped doing them as the years went by. Thank you for bringing these memories 🥲
That was BEAUTIFUL!!! You two are my favorite dance team.....sad that we won't get to see you compete with this fantastic routine....wishing you both the best in whatever your future holds!! xo
I am just beside myself with awe at how stunning this performance is. It totally captured the music and provided a totally captivating visionary delight.
👏👏👏👏👏👏 Beautiful! Sometimes just doing something we love - without competition - helps us refine and strengthen what we do. We have the freedom to be who we really are. Good luck in the coming year.
I was sorry to read they are not going to be competing again this year. I assume they will not compete again since this is the second year. They will be missed. I always enjoyed their programs so much.
Bravo..... Bellissima Bravo..... I love and missed you guys. You are by far my favorite ice dancers; I could watch you skate all day. Love your innovative style and I'm so looking forward to when you come back to competitive skating. Either way, I wish you nothing but the BEST
