Switch on, “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert” performing my favorite from them, “I Wanna Be Closer” in an edited video dubbed with an extended remix of the track from their first album, “Switch” (1978).
Just jamming with my newborn. This ole' school music puts his fat self right to sleep. 💃🏾💃🏾Someone is going to read this because they stumbled across this page, due to feeling lonely. I'm supposed to tell you, "All is not lost and you have always been loved and guided by your spirit guides and angels. Allow them in so the suffering can end. " Not sure who that message is for. I just obey the instructions. I love you all!🫂❤
I was signed to the same Record label as Switch. I used to watch them in rehearsals and onstage in concert. They were excellent musicians and very professional. Greg Williams - the trumpet player, was the main force behind the band and ran things. Many people don't know their name is Switch because the band members would switch instruments during their shows.
@@sethiemethy That’s cool! Yeah he was a cool brother. We were on Total Experience records with the GAP band Back in the day. I learned a lot from him and Charlie Wilson
@@thebrazilshowYea, I’m a musician and my drummer used to tell me all the stories. Hey do you have any of your music here on RU-vid that I can listen to? And what happened to your career??
Amazing how so many people have recently tuned into this. Incredible song Jermaine Jackson is a writer on this song. totally beautiful and never gets old.
Man, these melodies, harmonies, and lyrics make you forget the heartbreak of falling in love and want to do it all over again. Bobby's falsetto piercing your heart with Phillip's vocals touching your soul. This song is so beautiful 😍
Idk why this popped up on my feed, but that's some hell of a good music. Thinking back to my skating days...there was this older guy who tore the floor up to this and Magic Man ❤
The whole group was very talented, but Bobby had a voice from heaven . and I have not yet heard a voice like that again in my life and I’m 58 still waiting GOD bless you, your voice is truly missed Lots and lots of love and hugs to the switch group
This is one of my All- time favorite ❤️ groups!!! Bobby was Absolutely Mesmerizing, Philip was amazing! and Jermaine Jackson was a Genius writing ✍🏽 this Mega Hit!!!! Rest in peace Bobby 💐
This was one of the greatest groups of that Era when young black people were deep into expressing their talents and we were supporting them every where they went performing and it was just a great day and time to display ur skills and I loved it jamming at all the parties and going to the concerts and applauding for those groups and we sure loved them and that Era will definitely be missed
And don't forget all positive uplifting music, stuff now...I just can't get with most of what our people are making, and I'm not that old I'm 34...but I grew up in the 90's with stuff like this, this is what my family listened to at BBQ's, birthdays, or whatever kind of celebrations..my grandfather and his brothers had a band, they could play instruments and sing etc..they never got popular but I think they were pretty good, my late uncle played woodwind instruments, my grandfather is good at base, their older brother could play piano and their younger brother my other uncle was good on the drums. I love music from the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's...early 2000's it started to go downhill imo, and now it's too point where anything modern si filled with a bunch of trashy bs that honestly makes me kind of depressed when I lsiten to it...I only really only listen to jazz, blues, and electronic dance music that's modern....music made by our people now is filthy, can only listen to so much...filth, I can't groove with the music of today...but hey, that's for them, its a reason why these young black artists are getting money like they are...because that's what is popular now, but it's not better pure music..with great vocals, real instruments etc. There is a few artists out there trying to keep positive black music alive..but they are few and far between and not many of them are popular artists. Thanks for sharing those thoughts.
Alot people think El is actually Bobby because people aren't that familiar with the Debarges story, but Bobby was that guy most of the songs we thought was El was really Bobby God Bless them both RIP Bobby💯💪
Yea, lots of people did. But Bobby was the most talented out of them all! Then El was next.. El was close but no cigar.. And even El himself admitted that Bobby blew EVERY BODIES SOCKS OFF THAT came to either work, learn or compete. These two were the real deal and they had naturally high voices and so didn’t have to strain with falsetto as much. Yes they still used falsetto, but it was easier for them because they were already up there in that range naturally!
Wow... awesome insight... I'm learning more about their musical roots..Mama DeBarge was a prolific singer...they most likely inherited her musical traits 😊
@@jonathanharris8566 Thanks my friend. I’m a singe musician myself. But definitely nothing like Bobby or El, they were truly blessed by the right hand of God!
This is literally a PERFECT song to me. The instruments, the vocals, the lyrics, the harmonies, the way everything just blends together so perfectly 🥹 I’m a 90’s baby but Switch gone do it for me everytime… the way Bobby glides on these tracks will never be duplicated!
This is the sexist jam ever. The way Jermaine wrote it, the way Bobby and Philip sung it ------ SENSUAL . So pretty. No other could have sung it better than Phil and Bobby De. They did the damn thing on this sung
Timeless classic. Smooth Groove even in 2023. They just don't make songs as good as this anymore. RIP Bobby DeBarge. Your brother El DeBarge always pays you homage in ALL his concerts.🤗💜
Getting chills watching this🥰👏Switch was one of my favorite groups growing up… Was amazing seeing them perform live in concert 🎶 Bobby Debarge’s voice was just -wow!! This song and There’ll Never Be”were my favorites. Also props to Philip Ingram and the other amazingly talented musicians and singers. Miss the days of multi-talented groups like this💕👏 Thanks for sharing this..
Those Debarges.., the Detroit area pumped out so much talent even after the Motown era ended. Anita Baker, Cherrelle, Dwele, Kem, Keith Washington, The Jones Girls, Alicia Myers, Madonna, Aaliyah (raised there since 5), etc
This shit is soooo smooth and mellow that you can't help to love it. I was dating someone any I dedicated this to her. For a first date you can not go wrong playing this song.
They just don’t make Music like this anymore . Oh my goodness I just love this kind of music they voices the voices is so mesmerizing absolutely love it thank you switch❤❤❤
