I can't remember when I heard my first CD. Man that is strange.. I mean obviously the audio quality was OUTSTANDING. But I do remember getting a CD player as big as that box that had this odd function where it would play the first 15 seconds of every track. Like it would sample the CD for you. Basically the only additional function it had. Had a button for every track. State of the art, Jules!
