Green ran a 40 in 4.43 at 50 years old. Younger fans don't realize how dang fast this dude was... I still haven't seen a player play as fast as him to this day. Definitely a HOF GOAT.
JR is the best of all time. DG is not. There's something to be said about hyper competitives. The greats never turn it off. When you're in the league, there is nothing else besides football if you want to be great.
@@ldmaze517 I worked for the 9ers website and got to know many 9er fans. I worked for Bud Adams and moved to Nashville with the team. Moved back to Houston and worked at the Texans official website for around a decade. First started watching football in the early 70s also. I've been to hundreds of NFL games in my life. I guess its in my blood. The fans all over the league are great. Love them all.
@@MrZola1234 watch film my guy. first off he's the greatest route runner of the modern era and he's taken more 5 yard slants to the house than anyone. Running a 4.6 40 has nothing to do with it considering 1) Jerry trained endlessly so he probably got faster and 2) track athletes know that your initial get off is the most important. Can literally be a 0.1-0.3 difference
I would literally say that those Washington Redskins teams literally kept the Montana/rice 49ers out of the Super Bowl, at least two times if not, three times. There wouldn’t even be any talk about Tom Brady being the goat if Washington didn’t stop those 49ers teams backinto the 80s
That was his ultimate expression of respect for you then. He didn't want to be 'friendly' because that would take away his mental aggression to beat you. That WAS him showing respect for you.
True but there are also a lot of great players that play the game like it's a game and fun is their motivation I think whatever attitude brings out your best as a player then that's the one you go with 🤷🏾♂️
Jerry rice my alltime favorite athlete... but... he can't speak until called out? I know people are like. "I hate today's athletes that want to be friendly with players on other teams" At 50, I don't get that anymore. They are supposed to be "professionals" that means something. That means... you should be able to reach across the line before game and ask that man "how's your family.. be safe.. ima smoke you today" then GO AT IT. that's a professional. If you have to dehumanized your opponent to compete... that's crazy. Now if certain athletes have "issues" and tells another man... dont talk to me because... okay... but...."one day they aren't going to be in nfl" you might miss out on a great friend that you love competing against on another team
It doesn’t surprise me that Darrell Green was upset that Rice wouldn’t speak to him. If there was ever a talker in the entire world, it’s Darrell Green. When he’s not running, he’s talking. Great, fun guy.
Deion said in the end it’s also why nobody likes him, he didn’t know how to have fun or be personable. It’s a game that appears to be scripted and influenced by betting money. Rice even hinted at that himself when he was a Raider, coach changed the game plan days before the Super Bowl.
There’s more to life than being great at sports. 🙏🏾 You’re here to be a humanitarian first and foremost…but people get lost in the world and forget this basic tenet of life.
@@michael2514 a lot of receivers had that back in the day because they were legal. the gloves that NFL WRs wear these days have sticky substance as well. thats why you see so many one handed catches
@@michael2514 Jerry is by far the best player of all time. Just look at his numbers. His numbers might be the only stats that will never be broken. You wanna know who the real most overrated player all time is? You don’t know Bo lol
All the greats kinda did that Darrel was just different, no corner played to the age Green did and he never lost any speed. Freak of nature out there shot out to Darrel Green
Here we go again -smh Everything that's ever been done anywhere is either _"underrated"_ or _"criminally underrated"_ to know-nothings on RU-vid. This extremely respected Hall of Famer(College & NFL) is precisely the opposite of underrated 🙄🙄🙄
I was fortunate enough to meet Jerry Rice twice. First time was at track & field meet at a community college in Northern California in May 2000 and the second time was over a year later at a Kmart where he was promoting his protein gummies.
Prime doesnt know that athletes enjoy their work in different ways. Prime enjoyed it by having fun. Rice enjoyed it by giving it total dedication. Its like telling a workaholic that they aint enjoying the ride. They enjoy it different. Workaholics enjoy working and seeing the results from it.
Darrell Green could hoop, too. I played in a celebrity game with him back in the day. He had a nice jumper and he got his shots in the flow of the game. Although he's not that tall he could dunk jumping off two legs. The other thing that stood out about him was he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. He didn't carry himself with any I'm a superstar athlete arogance.

@@forensicaccountant259Jerry Rice was more accomplished by a lot by the time he retired. Rice to this day is arguably the Greatest Football Player of All-Times. Green is not even close in the debate
D. Green has a great personality , no wonder he lasted so long in the league and was well respected, not to take away from Jerry Rice....everyone is different, at least Jerry Rice explained his stance....
Jerry Rice the greatest receiver ever and Darryl Green the longest playing defensive back to play and outrun everyone until he retired . What players these guys were . I’m a Giants fan and they broke my heart many times .
If you’re a redskin fan, you know this is how D Green always been. Good man and great player. If he ran for office anywhere in the DC area, he wins by landslide.
He's not dirty, vicious and dishonest enough. Only hard-core narcissists are selected to keep cities like Baltimore, NYC and LA run into the ground. Green would probably try to do something for the people that voted him in, and that disqualifies him from donor support.
Yes I know I got to know who Darrell was at Attucks jr high he was 9th grade I was 7th watched him in practice every day then later on he was at Jones high that's when we knew he was special
And you shouldn't, especially for DG cuz he was NEVER a commander. DG and Sean are still the only 2 Redskin jerseys I have ever owned. Lets see if Jaden can make me buy my 1st Commanders jersey... HTTR!!
I hate all this political correct BS. Washington will always be the Redskins and Cleveland will always be the Indians. Thanks to Atlanta and Kansas City for holding their traditions.
@@dollarindimes Yes you should have enough of those friends already as an adult. Sounds like you barely work hard or don’t take your profession serious enough

Flash 80 was built different, mentally, like Bird, Isaiah, and Kobe. There is no love for the other side when you are obsessed with being the best. Did anyone ever see Tom Brady cracking jokes with opposing defenders? Our generation didn't do that.
Darrell Green is 3 years older than Jerry Rice. You’re missing the fact that Darrell Green is notorious for being the kind of guy who would talk to a rock in the middle of the woods if he had to. He’s just a talker.
Man, what a Kodak moment that would've made to capture that moment on film. Two HOF'ers just being regular guy's greeting each other and Chopin it up. Priceless. 😊
@@m.anthonybrown3309Deion didn't tackle or even try in run support, you can't be the greatest at your position if you didn't go hard at every aspect of the job description. That's like saying someone is the greatest defensive lineman of all time but didn't stop the run. Deion is the greatest *COVER-CORNER* of all-time, but not all around best. This is why I rank Champ Bailey, Charles Woodson, and Rod Woodson as better overall corners because they didn't just focus on only the cover aspect
Yeah, Im pretty sure thats what he was trying to say. Dude was too likable I guess lol. Its one thing to be so bad, no one wants anything to do with you. Its another to be so good that a friendly rivalry cant even be friendly because it might be TOO friendly on the field 😂
Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
D. Green is most definately one of the best Corner's ever. Perhaps, or maybe he wasnt as fast as Deion, but he had World Class Speed. He could tsckle better than Deion but Id draft eithrr of them blind folded.
@@dantemackey7471 honestly Deion is the only one close. Reavis only had had like a 6-7 peak years and Woodson switched to safety after he lost a step. DG was a solid lockdown corner for 20 years. Champ deserves some love too.
I'm a Redskin fan an Daryl is my favorite player of all time, I wore his number 28 when I played, I even have the Redskins an the number 28 as part of my email address.
Prime said the same thing about Rice. He said he didn't think Rice enjoyed the ride as much as he should because he was always business, he never enjoyed himself during the process of being a successful NFL player. Too uptight....
People said that about Kobe Bryant. Both Kobe and Jerry stated that their goal was to be the greatest of all time. That's a different mentality that you need if you seriously want to accomplish that goal.
Everyone is different and motivates themselves in different ways. The best always have a chip on their shoulder. If Kobe did the same thing everyone would be praising the Mamba Mentality.
Jordan was cool with a lot of cats in the league, one coach even had a conspiracy that he’d butter up opponents so they could let their guard down. That comment was so awkward that MJ dropped like 50 on him idk how the story completely goes
Fastest man in the NFL at one point in time. Green was a monster. I saw him chase down Marcus Allen from the backfield. Craziest thing ever! I thought it was humanly impossible to cover that much field that fast...... Maybe Rice was afraid to get ran down like a cheetah does a gazelle😂😂😂
At that time of life Jerry Rice lacked confidence in himself "OUTSIDE" of football. And it really showed in his non football relationships. He WAS superstitious indeed.
Imo that’s what makes the competition better going out of your way to be petty then when you grow old you can laugh at everything you went out of your way to do!
I don't have a problem with folk not acknowledging me. I'm gucci. I remember a college professor telling us if a person doesn't speak to you, even after you speak to them, don't take it personal because you never know what's on their mind or what they are going through. If a person isn't being intentionally nasty/hateful, then it's ok.
That is called funny acting people. If I speak to you again and again, and you don't speak, I wouldn't speak to you again. In reality when people act like that be having stuff on their mind is just a cop-out!
