At the time of Blair and Brown, I was working in the insurance industry, and Brown took 105 billion out of pension funds in a year in taxation. Prior to this, pension funds were tax-free and were growing at 22% following this moves shortly afterwards they were growing at 9%.
So, let me get this right. They want to raise the tax on selling homes significantly, that is 'second homes' aka assets, but at the same time they want to build lots of houses, which nobody will now build because they can't afford the taxes on the sale of these homes. They also want to tax pensioners for selling assets they have built up so nobody has to pay for their care, so after that money is gone the care of these people, who tried their hardest to make sure nobody gets burdened with it, will have to be paid for. What lunatic is in charge of finances and economics in this government? None of this makes any sense. Nobody will want to build any wealth up, build homes or start a business. The person cooking up these bizarre ideas should be given the Titanic Award for sinking the economy.
when your kids are old enough and youve retired buy a cheap house up north and rent it to them at social housing rates ie 500 quid a month, if your no longer employed you have no income and the low rent will be non-taxable, effectively become a parent landlord. it is the only way forward if our kids are to have their own home, a lower price house will also not attract inheritance tax if you leave it to them in your will. below 115 thousand, and there are plenty of houses North of Nottinghamshire in that price range. Aim for an EPC rating of C minimum or youll be investing in expensive upgrades to meet gov enviromental regs by 2027. The rest is pretty straight forward, its on a tight budget but its dooable for a two or three bed property. if you on the other hand have 5 daughters good luck with that one.
@@oojimmyflip What? My kids are old enough? One is 36 and the other is 34. They don't live in the UK anymore. Shame, because one is a physiotherapist and the other an engineer, but I'm sure they are easily replaced by the newcomers which are the reason why they left. They were both fearful for the wellbeing of their children. As for moving up North, no. We already live here 🙂
@@kevwalker5714 Yes and Thomas P.M. Barnett about a migration of 1 million per year from 3rd world countries, resulting into a light brown Europeans with an IQ of below 90. He wrote that to the US government in 2005
A previous neighbour of ours lovely bloke , got a job as a train driver, it was like a lottery win , new very expensive car , 5 star cruise and moved to a brand new large house . His words ..we are rolling in it ! Cant fault him , who wouldnt want that wage !
Unions have always been powerful. I remember one in particular in the 70s. Their greed shut down the company I worked in. I was a single parent. Did they care about us women..no..didn’t give a damn. It was all men. Taught me a lot.
GO AFTER THE WINDSORS.... how on earth they get away with paying such a low figure if anything at all... BUT the government won't touch them... pathetic...
They spent years in opposition saying they would tax the billionaires and company profits loop holes and first chance they have they go for pensioners and the middle classes
Mathew like Labour generally, doesn't understand CGT. With CGT individuals take on significant risk to invest in companies that provide economic growth for the country. That risk should be rewarded as it is today, with lower levels of taxation. The idea of economic growth with Labour in charge is a fantasy.
Like I know Putin made the story popular, where he said he backed a rat into a corner and jumped and attacked him, but that's a pretty famous Chinese saying, even a rabbit backed into a corner will bite. I'm a bit worried about how far the working class can be pushed
@@judithmorganjudyteenlabour will never get in again,we won’t forget what this man has done,no one will believe them again, starmer has made it impossible for people to vote labour again.
@@hydraV1-c7d well these MPs have to claim for their energy bills because they are paid so badly, what a joke, I would be happy if my pension was even a third of what they get paid. They are so badly paid that the tax payer has to subsidise their food and booze, when all us mere mortals have to pay full price for a meal out or a couple of drinks in a pub
Start by turning you gas of in the summer I had mine clamped in jan I'm having it back on next month I havnt had to pay the standing charge on that meter for months
Second hand with cash? That is why they want to stop cash. They want everything you buy and sell to go through the card so that they know exactly what you are doing - absolutely no privacy.
I could find one hundred twenty-five billion four hundred million pounds over 3 years for the UK government. They won't do it so I'm not telling them how. They'd also waste it.
I went to my GP today he has a "new" Mk1 E Type Jag worth in excess of £100,000 he also has at least 5 other cars including exotic sports cars including an Aston Martin and a new Jaguar XK. He's obviously up against it.
I don't think he underestimates the public's feelings, he just doesn't care, we are stuck with him for 5 years and he is obviously going to do whatever he wants for that time. God help us.
A few years ago one of the daily’s analysed the average man’s pay and the stoppages he will pay from it. After taking into consideration income tax, NI contributions, VAT, Duty on fuel, alcohol, cigarettes, Road Tax, TV license, Council Tax etc it was calculated that 80% of the average wage packet finds its way back to either central or local government coffers. This begs the question. WTF do they do with it all?
What will the rouge, undemocratic Labour leader do about all those big corporations and big business (like Google) that is not paying their fair share of tax. Answer:- NOTHING. Why should Labour tax them more, they have a real easy target to plunder, our OAPs will be going hungry and cold this winter. So, if your an OAP and voted Mad Labour, you deserve everything you are going to receive for the next five long cold and hungry years to come.
These guys are outraged at the thought of working class people earning good wages. And they'd have you believe they're patriots on the side of ordinary people 🤣
Looking at the comments, they seem to hit them well. People like to suppress their peers on similar salaries and would rather side with the super rich. Its bizarre. Some of these presenters are paid stupid amounts to talk waffle.
Happens when your advisors praise your every move. Sir Keir never had much in common with the working class and now has further removed himself from their plight.
Hmmm So I buy a house for £200,000 and with a mortgage end up paying £300,000 So I sell it at £300,000 and pay capital gains tax on the £100,000 increase Doesn’t seem right to me
Yes you can blame the tories' rampage of greed for all of today's problems. But these Labour Loons were not elected, they became the misguided default position, not option. So now the blame returns to the people and the broken seesaw 2-party system. Needs a drastic change but the wealthy won't budge.
Oh that's what they'll do, if you want to buy a house that's affordable in the future, you'll have to sign a legal document saying that that is not yourlegal house technically... So that the government can take their pound the flesh
I am from Bolton 70 years old ,stuck in a HMO . Mist of the people now living in the house are not native English. The has been wrecked , they smoke their pleasure smokes. Never clean the cooker . The noise and smell are all part of their lack of control. I have had stuff stolen complained to the landlord . I have been waiting for 5 years for council accommodation . I have a damaged back the specialist is ignore by a woman from the council who says their are far worse than you ! I worked All my life . I need a nee replacement so the pain I am in is ignored I walk with a stick I had my stick stolen from the kitchen why I carried a plate of food to my room. Really the disrespect of me and the survive to my country is a disgrace . My new moto Karma on Starmer.
We as a British citizen are astounded by starmer. I did 5 to 7 days a week as a highly skilled electrical engineer and never earnt anything like that. 6 years of training with many exams for peanuts in comparison. £70k for a 4 day week surely it's a conspiracy theorie.
Whatever the train drivers earn its not £98k per month for 32 hours work like certain other presenters. Why do these dealers seem to resent ordinary people earning a decent wage?
But most of the capital gain is a myth. Inflation has been 5% recently most of the gain reflects that rise in prices, charging income tax on savings is much the same the interest paid simply counters the fall in value of money. Capital gains tax on houses is similar if a house is sold for ten times it's original price the money doesn't buy ten houses it buys one house of the same size, the gain is zero.
Well you guys are complaining about that generation of young people, but you literally would not let them out of your sight when they were kids and teenagers, they never learned to take risks, nor to do things that were dangerous safely
U.K. Total GDP to debt ratio is now 101%. Spending more than it makes. Solution? Stop spending, increase growth, increase taxes? What ever it takes I doubt Labour will do it right.
That's s what is don't like about any politicians they promise not to raise income tax or vat for example but they either create new taxes ,cut spending or borrow but dont always mention in their manifestos. I would rather just said we are going to do this but may have to raise income tax etc to pay for it at least that would be honest.
Man I've known how to change a electrical plug since i was 8 years old, my dad taught me. Also know to change a light bulb, a tire on a car etc. my dad was very good at DIY and taught me a few things, also both of my parents taught me to cook etc
People were warned about what Labour would do despite the old ruse of "We have no plans to..." The people who voted Labour have only got themselves to blame, there were alternatives this time around.
