Part 3/3 of responding to a comment on my previous video.
What does it mean to have a voice that “sounds good”? And if you don’t think your voice sounds “good”, what can you do about it?
The first step I always encourage is for people to be more SPECIFIC when analysing their voice. What isn’t “good” about your voice? Is it breathy, and you would like it to be clearer? Is it bright, and you’d like it to be darker or warmer? Or is it too dark or dull, and you’d like it to be brighter?
There is no moral judgement there - no sound is better or worse than other, no voice is “good” or “bad”. There’s only your *preference*. It’s subjective!
If you’d like to change the sound of your voice, there are so many ways you can do that with techniques & exercises to give you access to a wider range of vocal sounds & colours. But first, you have to define what it is that you’re not liking, and what you’d like to move towards instead.
I encourage you not to use moral judgement words like “good” or “bad” when describing your voice, but instead more descriptive adjectives. See how it changes your relationship to exploring your vocal sounds :)
